Update on Denise Young
I just want to say thank you to eevryone who sent their thoughts or prayers for Denise. A few short days ago Denise was barely alive and no one evn knew if she had a chance. She underwent emergency surgery and came out stable, but nothing was hooked back up and she was left open so that her infection could heal. Through the grace of God and the wonderful attention she (finally) received from her surgeon and the staff at the hospital, she was able to recover from the infection and went in yesterday for another surgery to "hook everything back up." There was no blood supply to her pouch which caused the pouch and all of the intestine connected to it to die. All that she has left is her old stomach and the part of intestine that was bypassed. It isn't a lot, but the Dr. feels it will be enough and she will be able to eat agin. What a miracle!!!!! I am so releived that she is no longer critical and has a chance for a "normal" life again. Thanks again to everyone. I can't tell you how much it means to have support in times like this.

Thanks for your concern
I got so distracted with everything going on that I hadn't been able to focus on myself like I wanted to. It just didnt seem right, while she was going through what she was... and is. I did talk to Dr Tillquist about my pain (which has improved compared to past months). He asked if I eat too fast or too much(which I often do). He said to work on that and see if it helps. He also said that any pain that is serious enough to require medicine needs to be checked out. I will be sure that if I ever have a serious episode again I will go to the ER and I am going to be watching how fast and much I eat. If it continues I will start the testing again (like it or not).
Also just for people who are wondering how Denise got to where she is at.... Dr T was kind enough to explain it all to me. She did go to the ER. All of her blood work and a CT scan were clear other than some mild swelling in the upper GI which is what they thought was a partial blockage and why she was put on pain meds and liquids agian. When she returned to the ER her second CT scan didnt even show the swelling and again her labs were normal. The Dr had no reason to think anything like what had happened... had happened. Other than pain there was nothing ele to suggest anything. When Dr T got in on Monday morning, he decided to do an exploratory as a precaution and that is when he found all of the dead tissue.
I know it is so scary when someone gets sick and we think how did it happen? who's fault is it? and can it happen to me?
Anything is possible, but I think that goes in both the negative and positive direction. I am just so thankful that she is still here that it seems like the rest just doesn't matter now
