My hubby wants the old me back!!
Hi Everyone,
I have been MIA for a very long time. I started out at 285 on 12/30 and now I am 198. I wear 14s and some 16s. I feel great but I havent lost any weight in about a month!! Anyways my hubby said he wished I would have never had the surgery because I dont get to enjoy any bad foods with him anymore. I thought that was awful. Here I went through this whole process to make me healthier but he is just looking at the food addict in himself and doesnt like to eat alone. Kind of like an alcoholic I think. He is a very loving man and is very supportive but he is addicted to sugar!!! I dont know how to enjoy eating with him again. Any suggestions? Thanks .
Oh, Suzanne!
I'm afraid I don't have any real suggestions for you. It sounds very much like the alcoholic/co-dependent thing. Hubby needs to STOP THAT right now. Maybe he's one of those lucky people who can eat whatever they want and not balloon, but part of his responsibility as a partner is to support you in your healthy choices. I just want to reach out and him for you.
For what it's worth, I don't mind if dh has something wonderfully sinful in front of me. Sometimes I even try a tiny bite...and that is enough to satisfy me. But just let him even think of complaining that I'm not joining him in sin, and
Hopefully someone else here has a great idea for you.
Deb
Try to look at it from his view. He's lost his eating partner. My sister in-law is visiting from Wa. and she has not seen me since two weeks post-op. So in all the (mostly) positive statements she made, the one thing that hit me was when she said she "lost her eating buddy". She is right, so we just shopped instead, lol.
I'm sure you and your dh will find other non-food related interest's, give it some time and be proud of yourself!!
Best to you,
Diane
I just make myself what I want to eat and tell my hubby that I will cook him whatever he wants.....
IF I don't want the same thing --I don't care...he shouldn't have to suffer b/c I had surgery. IT doesn't bother me if he eats in front of me etc... and IF I want a bite of what he has...I have my bite and walk away.
no problemos!
