Weightloss slow
I am six months out and have a big, bad habit that is slowing my weightloss down. I am drinking during meals. I just cannot seem to keep from doing it. I don't drink alot, but enough to keep me from coughing or choking.
Another thing...I can tolerate a small amount of sugar and that's bad. I eat a little piece of this and tiny piece of that. Any suggestions? I don't have anyone here to talk with. I am only 15 or so lbs. from my goal weight. Should I worry or should I just go back to the basics?
PLS HELP!
If you are choking during eating, then there's a problem. Either the bites are too dry or too big. Try mixing a little veggie with the bite of meat. I use a lot of fat free cream of mushroom soup to meats that tend to be dry. That way I don't need to drink. And yes, avoid the sugar. A bite here or there once in a while is fine, just don't let it become a habit.

YOU are only 15 lbs from GOAL ...I wouldn't worry at all!
Sometimes I have a sip of water with food as well. I don't make a habit of it. BUT I agree that there is something wrong with what you are eating if you are coughing or choking on it. Maybe slow down, chew more before swallowing??? IF you don't do that already.
Most of us can tolerate a decent amount of sugar (up to 20 grams) I would gather.
I purposely have SNACK size candy (chocolate of course) on hand because I allow myself to have a treat without attempting to eat an entire candy bar. I have a bite of whatever goodie my husband is having. Not every day but probably every other on average.
I don't blame it for my lack of weight loss. 40 calories isn't going to put you over the edge. According to my scale I can eat 2300 calories a day to MAINTAIN my current weight. IF I am having a bad day...worst case I get in 1200 but normally around 1000. I am still UNDER 1000 calories a day. Every 3-4 days that equals 1 lb lost on average.
I eat what I like...JUST much less of it.
I blame my lack of weight loss on NOT exercising-- not my food habits.
I have about 35 lbs to go to my goal (I think --whatever gets me in a size 10/12 jeans)...I may try to get smaller than that depending upon how I look/feel or I may be happy with that size. It isn't set in stone.
Whereabouts overseas are you by the way???!!!!
I would curtail the water as much as possible and if necessary eat more moist foods to avoid the coughing/choking. Add low fat gravy? Cook your meats so they have more moisture (boil, saute in a smidge of olive oil etc) I find I don't tolerate pork chops because they dry out too much. BUT the pre-packaged pork tenderloins are always juicy for me. Use low carb/low cal marinades/sauces as needed.
From what I have read around here...drinking with meals can lead to big weight loss problems down the road so don't make it a habit now. PLUS you are washing out the nutrients from your pouch faster and your body doesn't have the chance to absorb the protein, vitamins etc... that it vitally needs! That can lead to huge nutritional deficiencies down the road.
