14 and 14W?

Is there a difference? Do any of you know? I just bought a dress that is a 14W and later found one that was a 14 but didn't try it on since I had found a dress already. But it got me to thinking. Are 14 and 14W the same or is there a difference? I am eager to know. Thanks

size 14 and 14w are different because a 14w is cut bigger and a 14 is almost like a junior size, if this helps

The 'W' in dress sizes means Woman. It is cut fuller in the hip and waist. (My daughter works in the fashion industry) Nona
