Exercise Survey ---Please help asap!!!
Shannon,
Hi - I don't post here often, mainly on the Iowa boards, but just had to share when I saw this topic! After I went back to work post-surgery, in January, I was walking 1/2 mile 3 times a week, then increased to 1 mile and by May was walking 2 miles. Then, when school was out and my summers were free, I began to increase the distance. I began to walk 3 miles at least 3 times a week in about an hour.
Well, the little town south of us has a big summer fes with a 4 mile night race that I wanted to do, so I increased my walking to 4 miles 5 days a week. Glad to say that I finished the race/walk on Saturday in one hour 3 minutes and 37 seconds. Out of 1127 entrants, I finished 1034th, which means that I finished before 93 other entrants. Whooppeeeeeeeee!!! I wasn't last (I was sure that I would be). I even jogged, (albeit ungracefully with panni in semi-swing [thank God for spandex!]) across the finish line.
Sorry, I certainly don't mean to brag. It's just that last year this time, I couldn't have walked from the parking lot to the starting line without wanting to sit down! God has truly blessed me with a tool to help me get healthy!
Now that the race is over, I still walk 4 miles, but not as fast. I walked it in 1 hour, 10 minutes today.
Sorry so long,
God bless,
Andrea
