Considering Plastic?
I don't think it matters how much you have to lose but rather how close you are to goal and how long your weight has been stable. I have heard that plastic surgeons prefer your weight to be stable for 3-4 months before plastic surgery; others aren't so stringent. For me, I will have plastic surgery but I would like to do so when I get much closer to my goal (I am at 228 right now (started at 347) and really want to get to 140-150 after plastics). I hate to see you spend $$ for plastic surgery on your arms and then you lose another 30-40 pounds, won't you have more skin that will need to be removed? Good luck in any event.
I plan to do it...despite the PAIN and incisions everywhere....BUT
I am going to wait til after I have 2 kids...maybe just 1 if I can convince hubby that is enough
but won't start trying for kids til next summer. FIGURE no point in spending hard earned $$ on PS when I will just stretch it all out with 9 months of pregnancy.
SO I figure it will be SEVERAL years before I will attempt PS. I will hopefully be able to document any problems I have and keep up that information so I can get approval for the TT and possibly BOOBS... I plan to get mine scooped out to prevent breast cancer and really want to breast feed any children I might have so have to wait for that. I want to do as much as possible all at once to save on $$ and only having to heal 1x.
I also want a THIGH lift/lipo. NOT sure IF I will do the arms....those scars are soooo awful looking...so either way they look bad. Right now I have flabby and stretch marks near the pitts. SOOO attractive. I will keep on my sleeves! save the sleeveless for at home exercise/yard work!
FORTUNATELY in my new profession I get to wear scrubs...so most of the imperfections will be covered!
Good Morning
I have had 1 PS consult and 2 more scheduled for July 26th. I will be having a breast lift and TT.
The 1st PS that I saw was amazing, and I felt very confindent in his ability. I have gone from 245 to 142 and he said that I was close enough to goal to have PS anytime I was ready. He estimated that I would lose about 6lbs with the TT.
I will be self pay since I have an HMO and no medical problems caused by my tummy so I am shopping around. The 1st PS that I saw quoted me $15,100 and that was all inclusive.
I'm not sure what I want my final goal weight to be, but will wait till fall for PS. Can't wait for a flat tummy and perky boobs....will be well worth the $$$$$

I will definately need PS. I started at 360 and am at 244 now. I want to get to about 180-190 before I get a consult. I can tell my skin is still weighed down by FAT and I have noticed from people in my support group that have had ps at various amounts away from goal that the more fat you still have, the worse you will heal. I know of two people specifically who had their TT with about 40 lbs still to lose and one is just barely now healing a YEAR later and the other one is in the hospital for the 3rd time since her TT four months ago... many complications that scare me. I am still excited to have it done though when I am at goal. I will need at LEAST a TT if not a body lift, but I really dont want a scar accross my back and I will need new boobs and MAYBE thighs and arms. I am working EXTRA hard on my arms and legs at the gym. I wish the skin would all just go away on its own, but I am thankful there is an alternative and we aren't just stuck this way.
Thanks for your reply, you look incredible! We started about the same weight (i was 33 lbs heavier) but want to weigh about 180-190 too. I think I may wait until I reach my goal. I will still go to my consult though to see what he has to say. Then I will have more info and more time to think about it too. BTW, how tall are you? I'm 5'8. This surgery has been so friggen' amazing. I am seeing all the Dec. faces and all the changes in both appearence and self-esteem, it's so awesome!
Peace,
Di~
I am 6' tall. 190 is the goal I set with my dr. My original goal was 220. Now that its 22 lbs away i'm thinking "I can do better than that" I may even want to see 180, but who knows, I cant hardly remember being under 300lbs much less 200 so I dont know what my body is going to look like. It is great to see all of the changes though. Good Luck on your consult!!
