hi all - i know i will hear that it is normal - but I need to hear it!! I started 12/29/03 at 295 and am down to 210 as of this am. The problem is I have been at 210 for 3+weeks. getting a bit frustrated here. feel like I am doing something wrong. I actually went down last week 5lbs but it came back any tips, suggestions, motivations. I am 55 lbs away from my goal. I am 5'7, and thick frame - is there anyone out there that is started at a similar height/weight that I can compare too (although I know I am not supposed to compare it does help me) thanks for the encouragement Jan 12/29/03 RNY - 295/210/155

Hi Jan I can relate. I had WLS on 12/17/03 so I am about 2 weeks ahead of you. I was on a plateau last month for 3 weeks. But now I am rolling again. I am 5'6" and as I haven't seen my frame yet I don't know what it is! But I started at 307 and I have lost 85 pounds as of today. (Monday's are my weighing day.) But there are lots of things that affect the weight loss speed. Age (I am 57) Exercise (I don't do nearly enough) and medications (I have just gone off my diabetes meds) to mention a few. I am SURE that your plateau will pass. What keeps me going is that I know what weight is off is NEVER going back on. Hang in there. You know in your heart the scale will start moving again. Joanne

Hi Jan, I'm 5'5", started at 299 on 12/5/3. I am now at 201. I was at 203 for over a month. I think once we get to this point, close to our goal, mine is 190, the weight comes off slowly, and in spurts. I don't have any meds, and exercise all I can. I do have trouble with food amounts, and watch that closely. Hang in there, Jan. you're doing fine. It will move when it's ready. Keep a tape measure handy and go by that instead of pounds. Nona

I'm 5/5", standard (med) frame and just had the scales move again after a 2 week plateau. (Seemed like a year, though!) I've lost 94# since 12/15/03. I'm sure you'll make that other 55#. Have patience. luvitsunnyv

It appears to me that stalling is the name of the game at this stage.....sooooo many people seem to be dealing with it. I have stalled 30 days out of the last 36 or so.....not fun, esp. when I was at the -97 to -99 range (going up an down) all that time! Finally it broke today and I'm at -101. I KNOW people loose weight longer than 6-7 mo. though, so I guess we just all gotta get through this together!!! Jenni
