Need some help ladies. I'm almost 6 months post op. I've lost 74 lbs, and i feel that i can eat everything and anything. Almost scared that my pouch is broken. Any advice?? And feel that i'm reaching a plateau, only about 3 lbs this month.

What exactly are you eating and how much? Can you give a menu of a day's food? When do you eat? How many times a day? If you're still loosing, you're not on a plateau, and at 6 months out, we do eat more than at 4. I'm at nearly 7 months, and can eat almost 8 oz of food at a meal. I can eat a whole Detour bar. That's a lot. I'm very full when I do, but I can eat one. Nona

Hi Nona, I can eat a whole LOT of food at a sitting. Almost 3 oz of chicken and some vegies... I actually think that I could eat more if I wanted to. I don't want to find out quite .. a whole meal bar? I could probably eat 2.. but I won't allow myself..It's kinda scary , but I was prepared for this point, I was coached by my surgeons nutrition/physc. team on how to deal.. look for some reading on "water loading" on this site.. I'm at a plateau as well at around 80 lbs.. good luck

I had an entire half of a chicken breast, boneless, pizza chicken, actually, for supper last night, and half a cup of veggies. That's about 8oz of food. I'm stuck at 94lbs for about a month now, give or take a pound. I loose, then gain the same five pounds. Water loading....I've heard of that. Doesn't that stretch the pouch even further? I'm at 60oz of fluid a day now, sometimes 80. If I drink any more, I'm gonna float. Nona

What our nutritionalist said is... if you think you want to snack, then drink at least 8 oz of water and see if you still feel like you need to snack. They do not encourage snacks but if you have to... make it something with protein that is "good for us".... low carb yogurt, cottage cheese... etc. I was also told by my doc that once you hit 6 months out you don't have to wait 30 mins to drink... I still try to just to be on the safe side but that's just what I was told. ~Rachel

How many meals a day do you eat? My surgeon and nutritionist said 4-5 a day. But how much per meal? That's my concerne. Nona

I eat about 6 times a day. I have a sit down job, and basically i snack. I have my shake in the morning, then mid morning i have a piece of fruit. Then i have like a lean cuisine, or a smart ones tv dinner for lunch. Then in the afternoon i have a yogurt or something small and then a lite dinner. Then if later on in the night i feel like i want something i'll have a carbsmart icecream bar. But i usually feel better when my sugar level is level.

Hi there Sommer, You have done great with your weight loss. We all have something we can eat alot of... CONTROL IS THE WORD. I just keep saying that to myself . I am sure nothing is broken. I have lost 94 lbs and it seems I am at a plateau again also. Just keep doing a good job? OK?...Lorraine

I felt the same way...I am almost 6 months out and down 90lbs. I felt I was eating too much but as long as you portion and choose the right food you will be fine. I asked my Dr at my last visit a couple of weeks ago and he said everyone is different. Some people can't tolerate much food others can...I had the plateau for 3 weeks and asked him about that as well...make sure you are eating enough protein. Plateaus come and go for everyone I didn't loose anything for 3 weeks then 15 lbs in 4 so just don't stress about it. Remeber the smaller we get the slower the weight comes off!!! Keep up the good work!!

Summer, We are close to the same date...my 6 month anniversary is tomorrow and I am sitting on 69 lbs. I am praying I hit 70 tomorrow....I like round numbers. Stuck in the 180's forever it seems....2 months worth. SO seeing 179 on the scale tomorrow morning would be thrilling. I don't feel like I eat much more than I did at 3 months sometimes. It all depends upon what I eat. Somedays I can finish my yogurt and other days I can barely eat 1/2 of it. Not sure if it is fullness or boredom! But another time I was able to eat 2 pcs of thin crust pizza (no crust) and a small 2 bite sized cheese breadstick. They weren't very LONG/wide slices of pizza. BUT still! It all depends on how much meat I eat...that takes up much more space than other foods in my pouch. For breakfast this morning...I had an EAS protein bar. It weighs 2.12 oz. BUT I don't know how much VOLUME (cups etc) it takes up. I was able to eat the entire thing and not feel stuffed. They are pretty condensed. I am very happy with my progress but who wouldn't be thrilled with another 30 lbs at this point. Especially when we see how well others are doing. BUT then again I have had (knock on wood) NO COMPLICATIONS whatsoever at all. AND I really only have 40-50 lbs to go. I know I can lose all my weight in less than a year. THAT is amazing to me. HECK 70 lbs is amazing to me. I just wish things hadn't slowed down in month 5. I was going along steadily at about 11-12 lbs a month and now it is less than 10...almost 5. I was hoping to be down to 140 by end of September but now at this slower pace (for 2 months now) I expect to be closer to December now. oh well......
