Hi, everyone. I am so unhappy today, I can't describe it. I was getting ready to show my horse this weekend, when she bolted and threw me at full speed, breaking my arm. Her behavior has been getting progressively worse lately, and this was the last straw. It's time for her to go, and I'll be looking for a new horse to love. I will be seeing my orthopedist today, to find out if I need surgery this time. (This is the 4th fracture of this bone.) In any case, there goes the summer for riding, and heavens only knows about my exercise program fort the next ??? weeks. This SO sucks! I think I'll go take my painkiller now. Deb

Deb, Sorry to hear about the horse, and the arm. :o( Has the vet said anything about her behaviour problems? Know what is causing this? I hope you don't need surgery on the arm. Take it easy and get better soon. Tracy

Oh, MAN!! That is a major bummer, Deb. To break your arm AND lose your horse.......too much. Looks like a stationary bike, treadmill, or legs-only elliptical machine for you all summer, huh? Crossing my fingers against the surgery!! Donna

that is soooo sad sorry to hear this awful news hmmmm wonder what has happened to the horse?! seems a bit odd. do other folks have access to her? maybe someone is taunting her when you aren't around? i broke my arm (1st broken arm in my late 20's)...several years ago. NOT fun at all! I tried learning how to roller blade....bad idea! better not think about those memories it was more traumatic for me than WLS.

Thank You all for your support. After looking at my x-rays, my ortho needs to think about it before recommending for/against surgery. Personally, I think that the benefits are going to outweigh the risks this time. This is the third fracture at this spot, and the bones aren't aligned; the best outcome without surgery would leave a 30 degree bend in the middle of the bone. But, we all know the risks of major surgery, and there is a nerve runnung right by the site, encased in bone from the last time. Please pray for me. As for Libby, I got her through the sometimes murky world of horse traders, and know nothing of her past before I got her. When we first got her, she was quiet, gentle, and my trainer loved riding her. Her behavior has gotten progressively more "pissy." We tried hormone implants, which worked wonders, but we've needed to continuously increase the dosage and frequency to keep her civil. It's like dealing with 1600 pouinds of PMS, and when she tantrums, I can't handle her. Hopefully there is someone out there that can understand and deal with her behavior. As much as I love her, I could never trust her again after this. No one has been rough with her or taunted her. As a matter of fact, her ground manners are so good she's a barn favorite. She's very sweet and cuddly, as long as you aren't riding her. A great pet, but terrible riding horse, for me. Thanks again for the support, Deb

I'm so sorry for what you are going through right now. It must be tough. I may have to get rid of my dog because she is badly misbehaving and I don't have the time I thought I would to train her. I know it's not quite the same, but I feel for you. I hope all goes as well as possible with your arm. lots of (huuuugs)

Aww Deb, I am so sorry to hear about your horse and your arm. I hope you don't have to have surgery. It sounds like walking will be your only source of exercising. Good luck to you! Sandy
