QOD for 6/21
Hi there guys! How was everyones weekend? Mine was great. We had a job party and I worked . That is the story of nursing. Anyway here goes some questions....
First are alot of you guys at a standstill with your weight loss?
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others?
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit?
Do you think you have that control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery?
Yes there seems to be a standstill for me now. I can't get to that century mark. I am down 92 pds and can't move. The only thing that helps is knowing I am at GOAL.
Yes there are some foods that I seem to be able to eat more of than others and it seems they are the wrong things
The thought of being able to eat a bit more scares the hell out of me.I try to eat the right stuff when I know it is something I can eat more of. People seem to think this is easy......NO WAY!
I think that now I have more motivation since I have lost weight and I do have a bit more control now. I have an incentive to get to the "IDEAL GOAL" that my DR has set for me.
Have a great Monday and keep and enjoying life. ............Lorraine
I am hoping I am not at a standstill...(199.5 this morning) but it has really slowed down. On Fri doc said the rest will have to be worked for.
I can eat a little more of things. But not a huge amount. The idea of eing able to eat alot of very scary to me...not something I am happy about. I do think I have more self control though. This is sure not something I want to mess up. I have had and do have some issues that we can't figure out. Hopefully an upper GI this week will tell the whole story.
It is so funt hough isn't it...especially seeing people we havent seen for months...it's so cool

First are alot of you guys at a standstill with your weight loss? nah, my loss has always been in spurts- I lose like 15 lbs and hold, a few weeks later it happens again- that's been the pattern so far anyway
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others? I can lots of almost anything- kinda scary.. It's taking discipline not to overeat now..I do not allow myself breads, sweets any trigger foods...
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit? Yup
Do you think you have more control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery? definately
Have a great week December folk
First are alot of you guys at a standstill with your weight loss? Not really, my losses are also in spurts. I didn't weigh for a week or so and lost 5 pounds. That way I am not obsessing.
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others? sometimes I can, and other times I can't. I still get full awful quick and don't allow myself to eat sugar (although I couldn't stand it last night when my dh made white chocolate macadamian nut cookies and I had to have a half of one)
I still can't eat meat, any milk product except cheese
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit? I'm scared to eat anything, but find I am snacking more and more that I am in school and sit there and snack on crackers, goldfish, granola bars or pretzel sticks- full of carbs I know.
That is my downfall- the carbs. I've really upped my protein intake though. But I am scared to death I won't lose anymore or will eat too much.
Do you think you have that control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery? I definitely have much more control, but I still have those pangs of wanting something sweet often. It has definitely been a life altering surgery- physically, emotionally and mentally.
Have a great week everyone!

First are alot of you guys at a standstill with your weight loss?
up until last week yes but then finally lost 2-3 lbs. However, this week is the PMS monster so who know what will happen. AND I seem to be constipated again after having several IBS attacks last week...hence the weight loss probably!
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others?
Yes and NO.....when I eat at home I can eat less but when we go out I can eat more. I tend to measure more at home and make smaller portions but when we go out I have to guess and I am not very good at it. SO I was able to eat 2 full slices of a 12 cut pizza minus the crust (thin kind not a lot of toppings) but at home I can only eat 2 smaller pcs.
I don't get it.
hmmm maybe the crusts were thicker...have to think about that one.
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit?
sometimes
Do you think you have that control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery?
YES I feel much better and don't go hog wild. I have my 1-2 bites and I am happy. I would have never ever been able to walk away from snacks like that before. THE entire bag or candy bar would have been GONE GONE GONE and then I would have eaten something else cause once I start eating I don't start.
Hello Lorraine!
First are alot of you guys at a standstill with your weight loss?
THANKFULLY, AT THIS TIME, NO. I WAS 167 THIS MORNING!!!! kNOCK WOOD THE WEIGHT LOSS CONTINUES!
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others?
I PRETTY MUCH HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EAT ANYTHING FROM THE BEGINNING, I JUST DON'T ALLOW MYSELF TO EAT MOST OF THE BAD THINGS AND I DON'T EAT SUGAR AT ALL.
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit?
I HAVE FELT LIKE I COULD EAT TOO MUCH FROM DAY ONE. MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT SOME BOWLS AS I WAS TO EAT 2 OUNCES AT A TIME WHEN ON SOFT FOODS AND STARTING SOLIDS, WE THOUGHT THE BOWLS WERE 2 OUNCE BOWLS SO HE WOULD FILL THEM AND I ATE USUALLY ALL IN THE BOWL, HOWEVER WE FOUND OUT LATER THAT THEY WERE 4 OUNCE BOWLS, SO I WAS EATING 4 OUNCES A WEEK OR TWO AFTER SURGERY. I THINK MY POUCH WAS MADE A BIT LARGER THAN THE NORM. NOW, I SOMETIMES EAT UNTIL FULL, I THINK I AM AT ABOUT 6 OUNCES IN THE POUCH NOW MOST OF THE TIME I STOP BEFORE I AM FULL, SEEMS TO STILL BE WORKING! KNOCK WOOD!!!!!!
Do you think you have that control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery?
SO MUCH MORE CONTROL, HOWEVER NOT COMPLETE CONTROL. I AM THE ONE MAKING THIS SURGERY WORK FOR ME BECAUSE I AM THE ONE WHO HAS TO MAKE THE GOOD FOOD CHOICES EVERY DAY. THE SURGERY WAS JUST THAT, A SURGERY. IN ORDER TO MAKE IT WORK FOR US, WE HAVE TO DO ALL OF THE HARD WORK. WE SO EASILY CAN MAKE THE WRONG CHOICES AND GAIN WEIGHT, IT IS UP TO US NOT TO DO THAT. I TRY MY BEST EVERYDAY NOT TO SABOTAGE MYSELF. I HOPE THAT I CAN CONTINUE MAKING THE GOOD FOOD CHOICE INSTEAD OF THE BAD ONE FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!

First are alot of you guys at a standstill with your weight loss? Not quite a standstill, but definately a slow trudge! I only weigh on Monday mornings and there is usually at least a 1 pound loss, but I feel cheated when the scale moves so slowly. It makes me wonder how I will feel when I reach the point where I start trying to keep the scale from moving? Will I be able to see maintaining my weight as a success, or will I be disappointed when the scale doesn't go down?
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others? Yes, but when I look at it, it seems to be foods with more liquid content. Like yesterday, when I started on the watermelon and had to cut myself off or I could have eaten a couple of cups of the stuff. (Yumm!)
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit? Hell, no. It scares me a LOT! Every time I eat more than my half-cup I am paranoid that I'm stretching my pouch. I still do it, though.
Do you think you have that control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery? I have a lot more control now. I can look at how much is on my plate and decide when I'm going to stop eating. AND follow through and stop.
Let's all have a good week, now!
Deb
you guys at a standstill with your weight loss? It is just moving somewhat slower....recently had a long stall (long for me....2 weeks) but actually my losses each month have stayed consistent.
Do you find at this 6 month period are there lots of foods that you can eat more of than others? Not sure cuz I just won't let myself try things that aren't "on the plan." I still eat pretty much the same things I ate a few months ago....but it is true that I can eat more of some things.
Does the thought of being able to eat more seem to scare you a bit? I can't imagine it NOT scaring a WLS pt!!
Do you think you have that control now that you have had your Weight Loss Surgery? I have more control than I ever dreamed I could have...even that is a little scary.
