Q.O.D 6/14
I have always hated getting my picture taken but sometime in March I actually asked my sister to take pictures of me with my future DIL. I am getting better but still am not fond of it. Last Saturday at a family reunion we had our picture taken with my husband's sister & brother. I have a digital so got it downloaded right away. I looked pretty good but the pose helped.
I am into scrapbooking big time but have not been keeping a photo journal. I have done some journaling though.
By the way a nice gift I have heard to give to a new post-op is a disposable camera with instructions to take a photo on the same day each month to document the loss.

I certainly like getting my pictures taken better now than I did six months ago. I have taken several pictures in the same location to measure my visual weight loss -- just haven't had all of them developed yet! I haven't had my picture taken in a swimsuit.........yet........maybe I'll get up enough nerve and have one taken since my family will be on vacation at Sanibel Island next week.
After my mother passed 5 years ago, I was going thru all the pictures we had and I realized that there were very few of her. She too was a large woman and always hid from the camera. She didn't like the way she looked. Perhaps it was part of the greiving process, but after awhile I became very angry that she had been so selfish. Besides my memory, pictures were all I had and even though she didn't like the way she looked, that's the way she always looked to me and I loved her regardless. At that point, I decided I was not going to hide from the camera any longer. My son grew up with a large mom & I was not going to deprive him of pictures after I've passed on. But I have to honestly say, they still bothered me to a certain extent. Now though, 6 mos post op and 70 lbs lighter, they don't bother me anywhere as much as they used to !!
