Relay for Life - An overnight cancer fund raiser/walk
Hello Everyone, Just wanted to share a little bit of my Relay for Life experience with you all now that I am 80 pounds lighter than previous years. My dh had colon cancer 3 years ago and had surgery and he is now cancer free. My father died of colon cancer 7 years ago so imagine how scared I was that my dh had it. I knew that God's will would be done in our lives but still hearing the word cancer is a scary thing and I think a little of a shock.
Anyway, getting back to last night. This is a community event so imagine running into people that you don't normally see all the time. Oh folks the compliments were pouring on me like rain. I get a little embarassed when people make a fuss over me . But I am truly thankful to God for this opportunity he has given me to live a normal life. I had so much energy I was able to stay the whole night (I usually leave early because I am too tired), I even outlasted my 15 year old son. I walked (the walk takes place on a University track) even when it wasn't my turn. My only problem is that my left heel has been hurting for about a week now so I think I might have spurs. I had them a couple of years ago and I think that perhaps the increase in walking has brought them back. I don't know but sometimes you just have to take the bad with the good.
Thanks for listening. Hope everyone is enjoying there weekend!
Jill
