Q.O.D. 6/12/04
Hi there guys and gals, Now that our 6 month anniversaries are coming, let me try to think of some questions ........... yes questions for us to answer.
Are we taking our vitamins religiously?
Are we taking in the water or liquids we are supposed to?
Are you eating your protein that you should be consuming?
Do you tend to eat alot of crunchy foods that digest well?
And finally are you happy with your weight loss for 6 months?
Have a great weekend and let me try to answer my own questions.
The first thing I do in the morning before even drinking coffee is taking my vitamins.
I am still having a hard time drinking my waters but I have discovered a great drink at K-Mart called Fruit Refreshers. I am trying to get that in at least and some water.
I am trying to get protein in, Meat has been a hard one for me . I drink a protein drink so I know I am getting at least 20 mg and now I am eatins meats and more cheeses.
When digestion seems a problem I do tend to eat crunchy stuff. Isn't it funny that a oreo can stay down better than chicken? Go figure that one.
Yes I am happy with my 6 month weight loss. I am at goal. Now what I lose will be extra. I would like to hit the century club. I sure hope I can get there and then I can
Again enjoy your weekend...... Lorraine
Good morning Lorriane,
I get my vitamins in, water, protein etc. Don't eat a lot of crunchy things althought I DID just buy a bag of pork rinds last night. I'd love to be closer to goal than I am at 6 months (today). After reading the profiles on this site for about 4 years, I kind of thought that I would be at goal weight or very close by 6 months. Oh well, So it takes a year, I'll still get there! I have 45 pounds more to go to my first goal weight, I might however want to lose more when I see myself at 125. Have a great weekend! Tracy
I am so bad- I can't hardly get a vitamin down-- Regular water makes my stomach cramp. I do try on the protein- and I was eating mostly cheese nips when I was 4 months out and I have not had them in a month or so. I really like a bar that comes from slim fast- it is smores flavor and it has 15 g of protein.
A question- I thought I read that we cannot digest soy- has anyone heard that ?
Hi Loraine,
Yes, I am taking my multi vitamin and my calcium religiously but I forget and don't like the vitamin B12 sublinguil so I don't take that one much. I will get my levels checked soon for my 6mo checkup so I'll know if I need to start taking the shots or not. Isn't that funny that I would rather take a shot than let a little bitty pill disolve under my tongue- how warped is that???/
I take a 32oz jug of u/s tea with me to school and sip on it all day, then I drink a good bit after I get home but I have been so thirsty lately that it hasn't been a real problem. Water on the other hand, I don't drink an abundance of that.
I eat a lot of crunchy foods too, especially nuts, triscuits and ritz chips (I know, bad girl!!!). I also have been eating a peach a day also. They are so good.
I am somewhat happy with my weight loss at 6 months. I wanted to be in the century club but I only have 10 more pounds to go. I guess I should be thrilled because my doctor told me that I would only lose 100 pounds in a year and I am almost to that now in half the time. He is going to be really surprised. Also my friend is 14 months post op and has lost 110 pounds and I am in the same size she is and she is so jealous. Ha/Ha I am very tall and it makes me look slimmer in clothes than I really am without clothes on. I hide my bulges well- hahahahaha
EVERYONE keep up the good work. Will talk to you all soon. Bombarded with assignments so really need to quit stalling and get busy. It's so much more fun to read and post here than do yucky homework.............

Vitamins? -- not taking religiously, but I do give myself a B-12 shot once a month. I have 3-4 servings of dairy a day so the calcium is okay.
Water and Liquid intake? Probably not enough by "the Books" but I get in more water now than I ever have in my life.
Protein? Still searching for the agreeable protein drink but I manage to get in fish, cheese and beef. (Chicken makes me sick and I agree, an oreo cookie DOES stay down better than chicken for me!)
Happy with the weight loss? Estatic! I'm only 5# from doc's goal of 134 and 9# from my goal of 130#. I bought a size 4 dress today!
Hi Lorraine!
I know I so happy when someone posts this QOD asking about our intake... it helps me have some accountability-- I need that from time to time!
Are we taking our vitamins religiously? I wasn't doing that great a job a while ago but I have been doing great for the last month (calcium included).
Are we taking in the water or liquids we are supposed to? Sometimes I still have a hard time. Its 11:30 my time right now and I am finishing my last 20 oz for the day (giving me 80).
Are you eating your protein that you should be consuming? Only if I get my protein shake in--I would say about 90% of the time.
Do you tend to eat alot of crunchy foods that digest well? I eat salads a good bit... I am so into salads right now... w/ sunflower seeds, cheese, crumbled bacon, cucumbers, tomatos, some turkey (shaved from the deli)... raspberry vinagrette---yummy!!
And finally are you happy with your weight loss for 6 months? Heck yeah baby! I have lost 82 pounds and I am amazed at that! I was told I should lose (to be on track for goal)...63 pounds. I almost beat that by 20 pounds!!

Hi Everyone,
Vitamins: Most of the time. But my blood work for 6 months shows everything is high normal, so I must be doing good in that dept.
Fluids: No problem Love to drink water, kool aid, boiled tea, decaf anything. Get about 60-80oz a day.
Crunchies: Love Triscuits. Have them with lunches/mid day meals, etc. But I try never to eat more that a serving, and never for supper. No carbs at night.
Protein: can't tolerate shakes. Make me nauseated. So I do protein bars and lots of jerk and meat. Make my own jerk out of beef. If anyone wants the receipie, feel free to ask. But, again, the blood work shows my protein is really good.
Weight loss: Down 94lbs as of today. Would have loved to be at the Century club, but still isn't a bad job. Gone from a size 28-30 to a 16-18. Could have never done that on my own.
Celebrated out 25th anniversary yesterday. Had a glass of red wine, a Merlot, with dinner. I had Portuguese Seafood Stew. Incredible meal. So good. Nice restaurant at Lake Carey. Definately have that again. We had a great time. The DH is so proud of me and how far I've come. He encourages me every day.
