Burnout, anyone?
O.K. - Deb's post got me thinking......
Does anyone else get burned out once in a while?
I mean, it takes a LOT of planning every single day for me to balance what I need to do for myself against my family's and my job's needs. I sometimes get EXHAUSTED trying to squeeze a decent meal, exercise, and the neverending WATER consumption into the nooks and crannies left over for me at the end of the day.
It's hard for me to get my vitamins and water in at work sometimes. I work in a dental office, and some of our procedures are HOURS long, and I can't get out of the operatory to drink OR go to the bathroom if I do.
My husband can't drive due to epilepsy, so that leaves ALL the transporting and errands to - guess who.
Working in exercise can be a real game of Tetris with my schedule....
Don't get me wrong - I have made this a priority in my life, but like most of us, I'm not USED to putting myself first, so then the guilt becomes exhausting when I take what little evening time I have with my family to go work out or attend a support meeting, etc.
I'm not complaining, because my family is VERY supportive, but WHEW!!!
This is a LOT of work, and sometimes it makes me crabby. I am DEFINITELY not used to putting this much thought into my every move on a daily basis!
I am SO very grateful for all my newfound energy, though! I never would have been able to sustain this pace at my old weight!
How about you guys? Does anyone else find the "daily grind" challenging?
Donna
Hello Donna,
I don't think that I get daily grind burn out so much as I get burnt out on the foods that I have to eat easily. About the time I eat it a few times, decide I like it then stock upon it, I burn out on it. Sounds like you have a MUCH busier life than I do. I too forget my vitamins, as a matter of fact I should go take them now since you reminded me!

Boy, do I know where you're coming from. Between home, work, family and any outside activities, by the time the weekend comes, I 'm too tired to enjoy it. And I,too get tired of foods. IT's always the same, protein, veggie, protein, veggie. No fried, watch the oils, careful on the seasonings. Chicken fish beef pork. I'm glad it's warmer so at least I can grill. Baking everything was getting old, too. I think we all need a vacation.
Nona
Nona,
you really ought to buy a George Foremen grill for the "winter" months when grilling isn't an option. KEEPS your meats nice and JUICY!!!! and it is easy to clean plus you can baste your meats to add flavor....low carb BBQ sauces, marinades etc....
I basically eat what I want in smaller portions so I don't feel BORED with my food. The only consistency I have is my morning yoghurt with cereal added in for fiber but I at least have tons of flavors to chose from!
Donna,
I'm exhausted just reading your post! This is one of those times that I feel blessed to not have children. So it's only me and my supportive husband that I have to take care of on a daily basis.
My usual day starts around 5 with a protein drink, hitting the club by 5:30 for 1 1/2 hour workout, then working until 3, then to the barn from 4-6 for riding and horse care, come home to cook & clean until I collapse into bed around 9:30 or so. Somewhere in there I try to remember my vitamins, water, and 5 more mini-meals per day. I don't know how all of you with bigger families and responsibilities do it! You inspire me.
Good news is, I'm not so grouchy (yet) today.
Take care, Deb
