I see people on here "stalling" all the time....why do I think I should be any different??? But I'm not just stalling......I've GAINED 2 pounds! My anniversary is the 18th of the month. Since May 18.....I lost 6 pounds in 8 days......then I began stalling and I was really doing OK with it...but then yesterday I gained a pound and another one today!!! I have not changed my eating in any significant way. I exercise like a nut.....(walking....I walked 6 miles on Friday, normally I walk 2-4 miles), I get my protein, my fluid (80+ oz). I could honestly handle stalling but I am not doing well with this gaining!!! It is totally freaky to me! I'm sure someone will suggest it is a hormonal issue...but I do not gain with my cycle....and it isn't anywhere near time anyway. I know somewhere deep inside that there is some normalcy to this but I absolutely HATE it! I had such a hope of being close to -100 by my 6 mo. anniversary on June 18 and I'm just getting further away from it. I know, this is the same song, millioneth verse.....I've seen it on here so many times before, but it is just so distressing!! Jenni

Hi Jenni, I was told that we have a normal fluctuation of three pounds that don't really show a gain. This is normal fluid changes in our body. I know it's hard, I had stalled, gained, stalled all in a two month period. It's coming off again. I went back to eating 5 small meals a day instead of the three I was doing, and I laid off the carbs, of which I was eating too many. I don't know how you eat, but maybe a change may help. Nona

Thanks Nona, that is a good point. I'm trying to "relax" about it as the day goes on. I am one that has followed my "rules" pretty faithfully but I do eat some popcorn several times a week....may be time to give that up. Also, I know that this is a NORMAL part of the loosing process. It doesn't mean it is OVER but I am wondering if it is going to get a lot harder now?! I still have 45 lbs. to my dr.'s goal so I need to keep going but I'm determined.....thanks for your input! Stop worring! If you don't make the century mark in 6 months it's ok. 7 months isn't bad for 100 pounds either. You are doing a great job. I have only lost 85 pounds and I am so happy. I am giving myself 1 year to lose my weight. I know it is hard but just remember that you have lost 90 pounds in just 5 1/2 months. The weight will come off. I heard that stress also makes you gain weight, so just try to relax, and don't weigh everyday. Take about 3-5 days and than weigh and see what happens. Good luck! Raegan

HI Jenni, I know you know the drill and I would feel thie same but there does seem to be a few pound fluctuation...even in time of day. Remember the doc said it's all aobut the calories and if more are going out than in we will lost weight. My gall bladder comes out today. I can't sleep. I think it's the burning. Say a prayer if you think of it. Hang in there. I will be anxious to hear what you think of Robert. Havent met him but he has some big shoes to fill Alice

I feel your pain and have the same problems....My suggestion would to be only weigh once a week.....It is a major bummer to start the day pissed off at yourself because of the scale......I am so trying to break my habit of the scale!!!! Hard habit to break!!! Do you weigh at the same time everyday? It is totally normal to flucuate a couple pounds...but it sucks when it flucuates up, lol!!!! Best of luck you ARE doing wonderful...Take Care Jesi

Jenni, Don't worry, stalls sometimes DO contain a bit of gain. But as the others said, it is a normal fluctuation just as we had BEFORE our surgeries! We fluctuated before and always will it is normal for human bodies to do so. My stall also had some GAIN days. I hated it, it was frustrating, I thought my body was finished losing, but thank goodness, I was wrong. The gained pounds went away and so did some extras. I am at an 80 pound loss as of today! 90 total from two months before surgery at my highest weight. I know how hard it is to deal with this, but trust me as certain as I was that my body stopped losing on me, the stall ended. Here is something to try, I know we all love new things to try during a stall...I have been eating seedless watermelon and macadamia nuts (takes me about two weeks for one small can, eat a few each day). Still making sure I get in my protein and vitamins, but what a treat the watermelon is...and I'm losing (knock wood) I take the whole watermelon and half it, then half one section and cut it into bite size pieces to have in a bowl in the fridge. Helps you get your fluids in too!!! I wrap the other half (as I don't have a bowl large enough for an entire sliced up watermelon. Try it! It is great! Best of luck, Tracy

I haven't lost much weight recently BUT I am wearing smaller pants...so go figure.... SO try taking measurements instead...maybe with all of the exercise you are gaining muscle which weighs more than FAT! Speaking of measuring...I better do that tonight before I get too far off of my anniversary date. I am a week late right now. UGH

Thanks everyone for your advice, ideas and encouragement. I do agree that I'd be better off to stay off those stupid scales.....I'm afraid I'm obsessed so not sure I will have the willpower to do it but I know I should. I did loose the 2 pounds I gained so that makes me feel a little better....so now I'm back to where I was 2 weeks ago. I read about people's stalls all the time and say or think "oh, they'll loose more soon." Of course, it is different when it's me! I get upset and worried, but am trying not to and still doing the right things! I still have 45 to loose (per my surgeon) so I'm only 2/3 there.....so I do expect it to take me the rest of my first year to get there, knowing that it will be a lot slower going from here.....and then I really want to loose another 15 after I get to my Dr's goal.....I do NOT want to be in the "overweight" category.....and the only way that will happen is if I go by my own goal. And funny you should mention watermelon.....I got the first one of the season yesterday and did have a little of it. I think it is pretty high in sugar but a few bits sure tasted good. I went on my 2.25 mile walk this morning....boy it was warm even by 9:00. Well, we'll see if I can stay off that scale for a week! Thanks, Jenni
