O.K., you guys know how, when I slow down with the loss, I try something new? Treadmill, cranberry juice, adding Unjury, etc.. I'll try ANYTHING! So my husband decides to go on the South Beach Diet, and I thought, what the heck, I'll follow it to a "T" with him, it's not much different than what I'm doing anyway, right? COULD be a coincidence, but after 1st week of the 2-week "induction" part of the diet - I'm down 5 pounds! And I usually average 2-3 a week if I'm LUCKY! Whew! I'LL TAKE IT!!!!!! Just sharing the possibilities!! Donna

Hi there Donna, Good Luck to you. What does the South Beach Diet consist of? Is it similiar to the Atkins? I have a rough time with meat so if it is alot of meat I am out of that one. My DR told me yesterday he wants me to eat more of meat just to try it and see if maybe I have a blockage, I can eat meat sauce and chili so I don't think I do. Great loss for one week for you to you. Take care Donna and have a great weeekend .............. Lorraine

Great job Donna, Where can I get a copy of this diet? I have an appointment with my surgeon on July 20th, I'd love to be 10-15 lighter by then. I might just do the "induction" part for a few weeks! Tracy

Here is a free overview from Prevention Magazine http://www.prevention.com/cda/feature2002/0,,5345,00.html Maybe I should do this myself since I would love to be down 10 more lbs to 175 by my "6 1/2 month" weigh in.....couldn't get me in at 6 months...oh well July 13th it is... then I am hoping for at least another 5 lbs before my vacation in August so I can go clothes shopping!!!!

I live in Miami and South Beach Diet is the rage. Hubby got the book for Christmas (just after my surgery on 12/15). I am going to pull it out from his shelf and try to lose my last 8 pounds before I go for the 6 mos po checkup.

Sorry so long to reply! The South Beach Diet is a book by Dr. Arthur Agatston ( publisher - Rodale ). His theory about good/bad carbs and good/bad fats makes a LOT of sense, especially when you see the disastrous results of our "low-fat/high carb" philosophy. It's a very good read, and while only time can prove him right, the maintenance program looks very well-balanced and liveable, just the lifestyle our doctors recommend for us long-term, I'm sure. Try to get a friend to loan you the book first. Down here, it seems EVERYBODY has a copy! Not sure if it's in paperback yet, though I seem to recall seeing it..... By the way, I've lost 2 MORE pounds on it. JEEZ!!!! Donna
