It makes me the must be involved somehow OK....so go to Lane Bryant thinking i need size 18 boot cut jeans....store on Monday didn't have my size SO I go at lunch today...no 18 boot cuts so I thought I would try the 18 Flare because I don't like the tapered leg on the classics anymore but the flares are a bit extreme for me....but I am desperate so work with me! Really don't want to spend more than $30 since who knows HOW long they will fit. SO guess what....18 Flares are too tight to even BUTTON...but I got into a pair of black "sort of" jeans (rivets but lighter material) in 16 petites. BECAUSE the 1 pair of regular 18 jears that have slightly flared bottoms are WAY TOO LONG on my 5'3" body and of course were on clearance for $9.99. The 18 black jeans were Average and too long so I thought what the heck...try on the 16P and maybe in 10 lbs they will fit...I could even bend over in them!!!! $14.99 I will take them! SO found another pair of jeans I like and they only had 14's but they are $9.99 so I figure I will get them anyways and wait til they do fit....but for the hell of it I tried them on... I can button them...now remember I couldn't BUTTON the 18 Flare Leg jeans that were up on the wall but I can button the clearance 14's...now granted they were EXTREMELY tight and wouldn't be able to sit in them BUT they BUTTONED. FOR 10 bucks I can wait 2 months+ for them to fit...and they match EVERYTHING! OLD NAVY "SHORT" length jeans were several inches tooo long to recap the email from yesterday... well I remember from last month that the Tommy Hilfiger jeans at Kaufmann's fit and looked nice in 18's. SO I run over to Kaufmann's because technically I only have a 1 hour lunch. Get to the woman's dept on the extremely far end of the mall...yes, I got exercise! I see a sign that says Tommy H 25% off sale.... WELL I thought it applied to all TH. SO I proceeded to try on about 8 prs. WELL I can fit into 16A bootcut stretch jeans....yippee and they were just the right length. SO I was thinking they were like $40 bucks and I am desperate so I am willing to go that HIGH. Saleslady rings them up and says that will be $54 What I thought they were on sale??? NOPE only the TH stuff that is on those 2 racks where the signs are.... UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH SO I am still JEANLESS.....and this really really sux!

OH goodness. I have to admit that I was laughing when I read your story... but only because the same he** has happened to me. I'm short too (5'1") and so the average length fits but is too long. The petite lengths... dang nam it ... I have to go up a size (unless I want the whole world to know the exact shape panties I have one). Hey, at least you got some awesome deals on pants!! Just a suggestion but Wal-mart has some jeans for like $12 ( I just couldn't spend $40 and only wear them a for a couple of weeks) and they don't look like wal-mart jeans lol! They tend to run true to size (even in the petites). Good luck and hey... have fun shopping! ~Rachel

I have not worn jeans since I was in HIGH SCHOOL! Way too hot down here, and I look like a dumpy little heifer in them, anyway. Thank God the Florida summer uniform is lightweight, tropic-print capris and sandals! I would DIE in jeans! I have noticed that Lane Bryant seems to only offer heavy jeans and other dark, heavy clothing anymore, even in summer. I guess that's why they're all closing down around here - nobody wants to wear that stuff down here except the Mall Rats, who never go outside. Good luck with the hunting, and hey! Size 14, Girlfriend! And they button?!?! WAY TO GO!!! Donna

I got into my first pair of size 18 recently. I know how good that felt to me. But I have a big tummy, so 18 fits there, but is baggy in the leg and butt. So I wear Just My Size stretch denim's in size 14. They work like a girdle, almost, on the tummy and they don't hurt my belly like reg. jeans can. Just an idea, as the stretch cost about 16 dollars at Wal-Mart. Nona

I join you in jeans he** !! Why is it that one size fits in one style and the same size doesn't fit in another style? I also am 5'3 and just in between petite and average, so everything is either too short or too long. BTW, if you think buying jeans is bad, try looking for capri's!!! They are definately not cut out for my type of shape! Lisa G

I must concur! I have 2 pair of size 18 no stretch jeans that fit, a pair of 17's that are about to fall off of me, a pair of 16's that fit, a pair of 20's that stay on because I have large hips....etc. I tried on a pair of cropped jeans at Liz claiborne outlet the other day in a 14 and they fit. (I just didn't wnat to spend $35 on them because I am a clearance a holic) I tried on a pair of Bill Blass stretch jeans in a 12 and they fit. Amazing since I am 5'3 and weight 195, but they did. They were snug, but they buttoned and zipped and I sat down in them. I didn't get them, but then later wished I had and went back to get them and they were gone---figures! My problem is the hips and I find that stretch jeans work better for this problem. I can get an 18 non stretch and they will snugly fit and even be big in the waist, but I can get 16's, 14's or some good stretch 12's and if they'll go over the hips, they will work. Weird! I went to Dots the other day for the first time. I didn't buy anything, but they had a lot of jeans for like $9 and that's a pretty good deal. They also seem to carry jeans that run larger in the hip area which works for me! I was going to buy a 12 there, but I thought I didn't need them. I went home only to realize that nearly all my jeans are too big or are baggy in the legs or big in the waist. I love shopping now, but I have to admit sometimes it is as frustrating as it was before because since I do have large hips and I mean about 13-14" bigger than my waist, it's hard to find dresses, shirts or pants to fit right if they don't stretch. I am easily in a 12-14 top if it stretches...if it doesn't...it probably won't fit right because of my chest (which is still a DD) or my hips...or it will be too big in the back. Frustrating, frustrating! Christy
