Wow, all the Decemberites must have had big plans for the holiday weekend? I'm still recovering from my Wed. surgery and did NOT expect it to take this long. Today I had more energy but still had an evening nap. I did get about a 20 min. walk in though, finally, my first since Wed. I want to feel NORMAL again.....this was supposed to be so simple and easy but then, I think general anesthesia just knocks a lot of people for a few days....me included. We had tornado warnings tonight and did get hail but nothing too bad..I didn't see a tornado....in fact, even though I live in KANSAS (middle of tornado alley) and have most of my life, I have NEVER seen a tornado. I've seen the aftermath of them plenty of times though. My step son did call from Kuwait tonight. THey are waiting on the ship to pick up their vehicles and they expect to fly back to Ft. Carson, CO between June 3 and 8. He's been in Iraq since June 3 of 2003. Then they will be there 5 days, and then will be "home" (about 110 miles from here) and we will get to see him. We are of course, very excited. I hope he barely recognizes me! I was talking to his wife the other night and told her I'd lost 91 lbs. SHe said, "you've lost ME!" She is "supposed" to weigh at least 102 (per her dr.) but has thyroid issues and has recently been down to 92 lbs. I hope I can loose 10 more here pretty quick and that she can find them! She hasn't seen me since about 70 lbs. ago. Hope you're all having a good weekend. Ours is quiet. Jenni

Jenni, I hope you will be feeling better shortly. Happy Holidays to you and your family. I wish your son a safe trip home. I know you are excited about that. I am sure you will be unrecognizable. You must be feeling great. I am hoping I can hit this 100 pd mark soon. The weight loss has slowed up but I am feeling great. . Life is great now. Do enjoy your weekend... Lorraine

Hi Jenni, I do believe that everyone is out and about enjoying their new lives! My son left today for JROTC (he was in it all year) camp , he just finished his freshman year of HS and wants to go into the Army whe he graduates. I don't really have any big plans for the weekend. Getting ready for church and then we'll see what happens from there. We too have had severe weather the last week or so here in Kentucky, we've been here 14 years and I've never seen a tornado (and hope to never) but they do hit our state pretty good too. I will be in prayer for your step son's safe return. Have a great Memorial Day weekend and try not to do too much. Just take it easy your body needs time to heal! Jill

Hi Jenni, Iowa has been having lots of violent weather recently also. Lots of thunderstorms & hail and, yes, also some tornados but not closeby. I too have never seen one in my 53 years here but have seen lots of results. I hope we never have one near our farms. I am so happy your stepson is returning soon & won't it be a hoot when he sees your "new" self. What a reunion. I'm glad he is returning, safe & sound. Speaking of reunion, we have big family doings on the next two Sundays & I will see relatives I have not seen since before my surgery. This ought to be fun! I hope you start feeling better soon. I understand what you mean about the anesthesia taking a lot out of you. My husband has not been out since he was a small boy about 50 years ago. He has had high PSA counts (prostate test) for the last two years & the urologist decided to do a more extensive biopsy this time to see if there is a problem. He will do it under general anesthesia in a few weeks. I was surprised that they had to put him to sleep for the procedure and said so when the nurse called to give me the times & dates for his various appointments. Her response? "He's a man! They can't handle what we women can." How true! Poor guy, just a week or so before this procedure he is having his first colonoscopy. I guess I'll really have to baby him for a few days. My holiday will be quiet. I'll visit my parent's graves but otherwise take it easy. This is my weekend to be on call at work and since it is month end I have been pretty busy. I put in 8 hours of overtime yesterday & expect to do at least 3 more today and maybe one on Monday. I'd much rather have the time at home but the money does come in handy. Dixie
