HELP Having a hard time keeping on track.
Well it's been awhile since my last update I was out of town for a couple weeks and boy oh boy did I have a hard time with trying to find places to eat healthy. Most of the food was fast or nothing at all; I am affraid to get on the scale since I have been back I fear I have gained instead of lost . It is so hard going on vacation and finding the right foods; although I probably exercised more than I have in a long while swimming and walking but still I fear I have fallin into a rut and not sure how to get out. I am home now and feel good although I just seem to feel hungery more than I was before. I try and drink as much as I can but I just don't know what to do. I have been looking for new things to eat and no luck finding something that appeals to me. Does anyone know of any good recipe books that can be used for US it sure would be nice to be able to plan my meals and I do try and eat the weigh****chers and lean cusines but they are so high in carbs and I have been told I need to watch the carbs also plus the fat and sugar MAN SOMETIMES I WONDER WHAT WE CAN EAT.. I guess I just need some advice on how to get back on track and start losing again. Well I guess I bellyached enough for one day. Well I hope to hear from you all soon I know I have been bad about keeping up just so much to do and so little time to do it in. But thanks for letting me vent and I hope for some good tips.
Diana
Hi Diana,
I like to cook ground beef with a package of taco seasoning and put it over salad. Everyone else can make regular tacos. I also cook up a bunch of the frozen ready to cook chicken tenderloins and keep them in the fridge, so when I walk by and want to grab something, I can grab a piece of chicken instead of something less healthy
There is a new WLS friendly cookbook out by Susan Maria Leach. She had WLS and has a profile on this site. Her website is bariatriceating.com. I'm sure you can order it from the website.

I feel your pain....lol......I wasn't so much on vacation but I stayed at my folks house for a week, and lost control........My younger brother lives at home and has all my fave foods......for almost a whole week I ate all wrong didn't exercise and barely got my fluids in.....When I returned home I was bloated miserable and depressed with myself.....It is hard to get back on track because after eating junk, we crave it more and more....I had to get back to basics and concentrate on protein and fluids for a couple days, then I was back on track!!! Good luck I know how hard it is!!!!!! For new food ideas.....Have you tryed crab cakes, what about BLT's......I have found a high protein low carb bread.....I take one slice toast it until almost burnt......some lowfat mayo...a slice of tomatoe and two pieces of bacon and yummy!!!! Sometimes I have a slice of lettuce instead of the bread.......there are a lot of low carb cookbooks out there......check walmart maybe.....Best of luck Jesi
I have been hungry like crazy lately...not sure if it is HORMONES since I am PMS'ing OR if the surgery is wearing off.
thankfully i still can't eat much portion wise BUT still!!!! IT is driving me crazy.
I use BOCA BURGER SOY crumbles instead of ground beef.
since you are mixing up with sauce etc....it is a great HIGH protein, low fat substitute and don't notice a huge taste issue and I am extremely Picky with my meats....
try doing more FISH. I marinated a hake filet in oriental type things--sesame oil, soy sauce, etc...then grilled it up...very yummy and flaky and served it with some jasmine rice and broccoli. just go easy on the rice. but it was very YUMMY and easy to cook. I bought indiv. frozen hake filets from Schwann's. Tilapia would be an excellent substitute and very mild flavor.
Go out to Epicurious.com or Food Network and do searches on recipes. There is a LOW carb show on Food and the recipes will be posted on line.
What about shake n bake chicken or pork chops?
our portions are soo small that a bit of carb crumbs isn't going to hurt anything. besides if you are satisfied you will eat less.
try making low carb panini sandwiches....filled with meat, cheese and veggies on your george foreman grill or just use a regular skillet and press down on the sandwich with something heavy while you grill the bread. makes it much thinner and less bulky for us!
use BUTTER flavored PAM spray instead of butter to save fat/calories. flavor isn't quite the same but you get nice crispy grilled bread!
MARINADE your meats to give them the best flavors! just try to watch out for sugars and your sensitivity level. normally our portions are soo small that the sugar in those things isn't enough to trigger dumping.
