Why has it stopped?
I had my LAP Rny 12/5/3. I had a 60cc pouch with 150cm intestine removed. To date, I've lost 90lbs, starting at 299 pre op. But I haven't lost anything other than one pound for a month, and only two pounds last month. Here is my daily menu from yesterday:
Breakfast, a small bowl of Kashi cereal, (High fiber, soy added kind) with skimmed milk and a banana
Snack, 2oz hard cheese and four low fat triscuits
lunch: 6oz roast beef and 1/2 cup mixed veggies
snack: an Atkins bar
supper: 1/2 chicken breast with a tossed salad of lettuce, tomatoe and a little pepper jack cheese.
I drink water or kool aid during the day and exercise for 45 minutes 5 days a week, either on a Gazelle, aerobics or power walking. Im in a size 18 from a 30, and nearly ready for a 16, but I'd like to loose another 20lbs and get down to 190. Any ideas would be helpful and welcome. Thanks in advance.
Is it possible to "up" your exercise.....even doing something different than you are now? Right now I'm doing min. of 1/2 hour but most days an hour and some days 1.5 hr. (spread out through the day, not all at once) of walking and am doing that 7 days a week. Your loss is good but I understand wanting to "jump start" it again. I know a lot of people say it really does slow down at 6 mo...not looking forward to that myself. Just a thought on the exercise.

what is your daily caloric intake? you may need to up your #'s to boost your metabolism.
i have been stuck for about 2 weeks now...hitting my 2nd plateau. February was a stand still for me as well.
May isn't looking much better.
I still have a good 50 lbs to go and according to the charts...60 lbs.
try switching things up a bit and JOLT your body. Try weight lifting to build muscle which burns more fat/calories than aerobic exercise.
I take in about 1000-1200 per day. I'm leary of weigh lifting as I have FM and RA and must be very careful not to put too much strain on the joints. I do a Gazelle and things like mow the lawn to help with muscle, but other than some light free weights, 5lbs, I dont' have anything available. My work schedule prevents me from going to a gym because the nearest is too far away. Thanks for the input.
I can sooo relate! I had basically the same surgery on 12/15/03. Started at 341. I am now 256 and can't seem to lose another pound! I workout at a curves like place 3 days a week and know that since I just started I may be building muscle which weighs more that fat but if I don't lose at least another 56 pounds by 12/15/04 I will be very disappointed.
Dont' get me wrong I am very happy but won't be completely happy unless I get under 200lbs.
I know that the first months are more rapid but not one pound in 3 weeks is hard to take
Goodluck

HI,
I'm right there with you. My surgery was 12/17/03 and I've only lost 68 pounds. For a solid month I have stayed at the same weight. I work 6A-6P so I understand the schedule problem. I work for a doctor and he's been trying to advise me on how to start my weight loss back. We know it's not the caloric intake so He told me to go strictly to proteins. I started this morning with a protein drink. Lunch a chicken breast and for supper I plan on fish. I'm going to try this for a week and see what happens. He thinks my body is fighting the weight loss because of a deficiency with the protein and not enough calories. I also use step aerobics because of time constraints and I live in a rural area. Good luck I hope you break the lull.

It WAS SO GREAT TO READ ALL THE REPLYS TO YOUR letter. I had surgery on Dec 11, 03 and HAVE LOST 61 lbs and stopped. I really don't understand what I have been doing wrong. It feels better knowing I'm not alone in this. I thought I was eating to much, not excercising enough and just a LOOSER (ha). Well I'm staying on track and I know it will kick in again. I see Dr. Obeid next week for a possible hernia and perhaps I can get more info from him. Good luck to you as I'm sure you have heard many times we are a success already and it will start droping off again. My e mail address has changed and I've tried to change it on here but...please send e mails to ******[email protected] thanks
HEY! I had my surgery on December 11 and I have lost 61 pounds also! SO far, I haven't been scared even when I don't lose weight, because I know I am doing the best I can. I am weird and I reward myself when I do everything right...by having a cup of decaff coffee with some of that low carb hazelnut cream...however...that cream has some partially hydrogenated stuff in it and I know that isn't good for you. I don't let myself have the coffee unless I have had all my water and sometimes by the time I finish the water it's too late for me to have the coffee. I wanted to lose faster too. I think we all do, but I keep noticing things that make me happy. I don't worry that I won't fit in a booth anymore like I used to!
I have to tell the truth though, I am so happy you had surgery the same day and have lost exactly the same thing. It makes me feel like everything is good.
