possible stricture
Have any of you had a stricture? I have to go in on monday morning to have a scope done, to check for possible stricture. My doctor thinks that because I can't eat more that a couple of bites of meat at a time, that I should be checked out. If you have had this procedure done, how was it and was it painful afterwards. What is the recovery time?
Hi, Raegan!
I had 3 endoscopies, and let me tell you, it's EASY!
They had to scope and stretch me 2 times. the first time I was 100 percent closed, and they couldn't get through. I couldn't even keep water down.
They will give you a light anesthesia before they start, you will know or feel NOTHING, and you wake up and recover pretty quickly afterward. I went home within 1 1/2 hours each time.
No pain, no discomfort or anything afterward. They just tell you not to drive the rest of the day because of the anesthesia, so someone will have to go with you. Then, you may want to go home and just take a nap.
I stayed on a smooth, liquid diet for a day or so afterward, then I was able to eat again after the third time! Since you are already able to get some solids down, once may be enough for you!
Good luck, sweetie, and don't fret! It's SO easy!!
Oh - be a doll and bring the nurses some donuts! They'll remember you!

I also had 3 strictures and ditto the above comments. Very easy. I was sleepy for two days though but I think I am a little weird and the first time my throat kind of hurt. It was the size of a pea at that time. Now it's been two months and my surgeon will do one more check when he takes out my gall bladder so we shall see. But don't be worried. It is very easy.
