Hair loss problem
Is anyone else losing their hair? I started losing it rapidly at 4 months and I just got a short hair cut to prevent it from being too obvious. The doc says this is normal and it should slow down at 9 months out, but I do not want to be in a wig.
Let me know if you have been experiencing this, too.
Thanks-
Doreen

Doreen,
that is about the time i started losing my hair really bad...i went and got mine cut also to hide the bald spots..i got the vitamins for hair and then i got boitin and then i went and got special shampoo and conditioners. and i am still losing my hair....some say it is cuz you dont get enough protein in your diet. some say it is cuz you just had surgery....at one point i would sit and cry cuz of it....now i just try to do my hair and not get depressed.....so you are not the only one.....lynda
Hi there Doreen,
How are you? I am originally from Massapequa Park and now I live in Long Beach. I had the surgery 1 day before you did, on 12/15/03. I weighed in at 245 lbs and now I am weighing 180 pds down 85 pds.
. I did notice hair falling out last month on my 4 month mark. I cut it down so it wont be as noticeable. I am not using any of those products out there.I just condition it more and for longer. It seems the hair loss has slowed up but I do understand it will slow down around the 9th month. I dont know if that is encouraging to you but ... what can we do ?
.
This is quite normal. I will take thinning hair anytime for this wonderful weight loss.... Take Care...

Doreen, I had my surgery 12/15/03 and my hair loss started at about 4 months also. My hair has always been extremely thick and it has been heartbreaking to see handfulls of hair come out. But I feel even my pride is a small price to pay for how I feel and look since 86 pounds have disappeared from my body.

Hey just read the hair loss post and wanted to comment! I too was and at times still am suffering from hair loss. First thing I did was called my surgeon and they said that my protein was great but my Iron was extreamly low and so was my B12. Started taking 325 mg of Iron a day and that has stoped my hair loss, if I forget to take my Iron for a day or two my hair starts to fall out again. Hopefully it starts growing back soon!
FYI- my aunt told me a way to find out at home if your Iron is low is to take a gold ring exp. your wedding band and run it across your cheek if a black line shows up then your Iron is low, It does work, first day I did this and had a black line, once I was on the Iron for a few days no line!
