RE: QOD..drinking... eating....hospitals...WHINING
thanks to everyone who posted. I had been curious how much we all could eat and then today following my little trip to the hospital (see post on drinks?), I was even more curious BECAUSE... the radiology tech said "You ARE still eating only 2 oz RIIIGHT?" Made me feel like I was the only one who could eat 2-4 and sometimes maybe 6 if I eat too slow or too fast or certain textures. Then when I found out I likely have ulcers, the guilt hit me... first for EVER drinking ANY alchohol and thinking I did it all to myself somehow by eating too much. I KNOW that it is the minority that can actually eat no more than 2 oz at a time until they are at goal, but why do I feel like such a cheat? I wish that they would have post op people work with us when we are post op. I hate being judged!!!! I'm sorry but today has been so long.... My kids are sick and puking... I have a sinus infection and my own little tummy problems, and I'm supposed to leave for a weekend out of town friday afternoon. I just needed to complain a bit...
Shawna,
Don't let anyone make you feel bad for how much you can eat!!! You are still losing weight so you are doing just fine. Is that radiologist an EXPERT on WLS? NO! Just going by what someone told them about WLS patients and eating 2 ounces! Thats all, no reflection on you! You look GREAT and you are doing wonderfully on your weight loss!!! You are so close to goal, I can see it in your photos! You look NORMAL SIZE!!!
There are new TV dinners out there called...Damn, forgot the name...LIFE CHOICE! (Remembered) they make one that is beef slices in gravy and with a side of green beans and red peppers. I pick out allof the red peppers and do not eat the gravy, but other than that I can eat that entire 10 ounce meal!!!!! And I am still losing weight! Beef and green beans are heavy foods too, not like eating 10 ounces of yogurt. I generally keep meals to about 4 ounces to 1 cup but if I want I CAN eat a lot. So don't worry about the little bit that you can eat! You are just fine! Tracy
Oh BTW, try the life choice meals, they are VERY tasty!
Hi Shawna, Tracy is right. Don't let people who have NO idea what there talking about to tell you what you should and should not be doing. I eat more than 2 ounces per meal. More like 3-4 but our pouches are suppose to stretch and allow us to eat more. That is suppose to be normal, that is why they make them so small to start with to allow for stretching. Hang in there!! You are doing a great job!!

Oh, for heaven's sake, of COURSE you should be able to eat more than 2 ounces by now! You would never be able to get enough protein in otherwise! Perhaps the tech was misinformed as to your post-op status, (5 months, not 1 !) or perhaps he/she knows just little enough about the surgery to make a fool of him/her self. Bad enough we have to put up with the truly ignorant and misinformed public - shouldn't have to do it with Health Car Professionals!
I passed up 2 ounces weeks and weeks ago! We all have, I'm sure. AND, it's not unusual, when the cir****tances and food density are right, to be able to eat more than 4 ounces. (Man, those CARBS go down way TOO easy!!
Sounds like you got enough to worry about without "junior-college physicians" getting in your face, so let it go and have a GREAT barf-free weekend!!!
