I, like many others, take my start weight from the doctor's visit the week before surgery.

I use the Pre Op official surgeon's weight of 249 for my weigh in about 1 1/2 weeks before surgery. I probably weighed my highest last June-ish around 265-267 I think. I would have to confirm with my PCP's chart. Plus that is when I was wearing my largest pants ever. But normally in conversations I will say I have lost X amount since surgery. Or I have lost X amt in X many months. That keeps it related to the surgery itself. NOW IF I had lost more than 15 lbs actually trying before surgery or in order to have the surgery....then I would count that. But in my case I think I was around 254 for my initial surgeon's visit in July of last year and knew I had to weigh within 5 lbs of that for my surgery to not ge cancelled. I can easily lose 10-15 lbs without any problems---it is the amts over that I consider a major weight loss or success.

Hello, I count my LOSS from the date of surgery. I started out at 251 and am not 181, so that is 70 pounds lost. If I counted before surgery at my highest weight of 261 then I have lost 80 pounds. Tracy
