Q.O.D. 5/7
Great Question, Jill. I only wish I had an answer.
Every time I bring the subject up with the husband, I get my least favorite answer, "I don't care, what do you want to do?" and when I make a suggestion, any suggestion, he's not interested. This is bad enough with dinner plans, but vacation??????
I really don't care when or where we go, I just want to get out there and DO something. It's been so long since I wanted to be active on our vacation. (I'm usually thinking beach, rum drinks and cabana boy .)
Is anyone else out there having problems with husbands being more difficult about getting out and doing things?
Happy Weekend to you all,
Deb
Hi Deb, Sounds like you have to like I do. Pick a place, make the arrangements, then tell him that's what you are going to be doing. Once he gets there he will be thrilled that you did it. I just wish for once mine would do the picking, but that is NEVER going to happen. So I'm the official travel agent of the family!

We hope to be going to Ft. Carson, CO in about a month to greet my stepson home from a year in Iraq. We may stay a few extra days but that will depend on exactly when he gets back and how much time hubby can get off work on short notice.....and also my work schedule...I don't work a lot of days but once they are scheduled, (and they are for June) they aren't negotiable. We are not planning a summer vacation as our kids' schedules are so busy but we are planning a trip to Branson, MO in Oct. when they have Fall break.

MY vacation this summer will be sending my 12 year old son off to sleep-away camp while we TOTALLY remodel the kitchen/greatroom area. No appliances for a few weeks (boo-hoo) so there'll be NO cooking ( listen - can you hear my heart BREAK? ), just my husband, myself and a brand-spankin'-new kitchen by the end of the summer, with all new wood flooring, granite countertops, light fixtures, tumbled marble backsplash, ALL new appliances, etc.
Yep, we're gonna be poor for a while, but I don't mind. My kitchen is all original 20-plus year-old EVERYTHING, including the failing appliances, "Fabulous 80's" ugly brown tile, long-defeated Formica countertops, and pressboard cabinets being held together by L-brackets.
Honest to Pete, I don't know which transformation I'm more excited about - mine or the kitchen's!
I guess the furthest we'll be traveling this summer is to Home Depot!
Wish me luck!

Jill,
I just had to post this quick message and then I'll add my response to your Q.O.D. My husband was born in Myrtle Beach and before the army, we used to go there every Labor Day weekend for the family reunion. His grandmother lives in Murrells Inlet (just 10 mins south of Myrtle Beach) and though his parents now live in Georgia... she was born in Florence! Oh the Pavillion is tons of fun and then Broadway at the Beach. I hope you have a great time there!! I miss it!

Lets see, we are going home to Georgia to visit and go to my younger cousin's wedding... sort of a big deal (she's like my sister). We will be going to Myrtle Beach this labor day...hopefully but since my hubby has never been to the Gulf of Mexico--we are going to Galveston (I think) pretty sad don't you think...last year we did Disneyland with the kids and I was really close to not fitting on most of the rides... sometime this year I want to do Six Flags or something too!
