Q.O.D 5/4
Okay, I know I said I was stopping but it is so much easier to come up with a question when it is not an everyday thing
What is one thing post-op that you expected and didn't find, and what is one thing you didn't expect and did?
I expected to dump, and I don't (or at least haven't yet) I didn't expect to have to work so hard at figuring out what I should eat
Have a great day,
Jackie
Jackie....You answered this one the same as I would.....I do not dump...I really thought I would and I had a few episodes early on where I thought I was a dumper....not so lucky! Also I never imagined how hard it would be to figure out meals.....watching carbs, getting protein.....blah blah blah!!! Great question!!! Jesi
What is one thing post-op that you expected and didn't find--
Never dumped! knock on wood
What is one thing you didn't expect and did?
that I would have NO problems with food whatsoever (in small quantities I can try/taste anything without issues).
BUT the biggest complaint is the constipation/lack of normalcy in the bowel department.
See ladies I did dump and vomit... But now I find I can't do either and I can have sugar and it scares the crap out of me... It was like a warning system for me and to know it's no longer there scares me so much... So I miss that feeling... Because now I know in my head I can be bad.. And I guess it comes down to self control... But for alot of us I guess thats why we had surgery....
Hiyeeee
The thing I expected was to be in check with the pace of my loss. Pre-op, I read profile after profile and thought: HOW can these people be complaining that they ONLY lost 60,70,80, lbs in 4,5,6, months!!!!! I thought I would NEVER EVER feel like that. WROOOONG! I guess my obsession went from the food to the scale?
The thing I didn't expect was to have so many self image issues or having such a hard time figuring out what is good to eat. I need to find a track to begin with, then get back on it!!!! I have had sooo many bad things lately.... but thats another post

I EXPECTED TO DUMP AND NEVER DID.
I DIDNT EXPECT ALL THE FOODS I CAN TOLORATE. IT ONLY MAKES ME HAVE TO WORK HARDER. I WISH I COULD DUMP AFTER EATING SOMETHING WITH SURGER AND THAT WAY I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM IT, BUT SOMETIMES MY CRAVINGS GET THE BEST OF ME AND I FIND MYSELF EATING CANDY, NOT ALOT BUT STILL I SHOULD NOT BE EATING IT.
WOW Jackie what a great question...
What is one thing post-op that you expected and didn't find, and what is one thing you didn't expect and did?
I guess I would have to say that I thought weight loss would be better. NOT easier, I never thought that this was an easy way out. I knew my life would be changed forever BUT I did think that once I started eating solid (after the liquid diet, etc) food, drinking 64+ fluids, 60+ ounces of protein, etc., etc. that the weight would keep coming off at a semi-steady rate. For me that has not been the case and as I read others' posts I am definately not alone.
