Well I felt like I was doing so good lately but I stepped on the scale and I only lost 2lbs since my last visit 3 weeks ago, it just seems like things are slowing down . I have lost a total of 93lbs since Dec 3rd and I know I should be thrilled but it just seems like I maybe expected more.... I know I should probably just smile at what I have lost but I am still over 400lbs and I am dying to be under that soon. Any tips on what to do when you hit a plataeu???? I also sometimes feel like I am just not eating the right foods, I try so hard to keep to a regular diet of meats and veggies and not to much startch but its hard because I have such a small income, diet food is so expensive . I have been trying to make sure I am getting enough protein as well but that is tough too; I guess maybe I just need to Vent alittle; I am just so depressed because I just turned 39 and I am still over 400lbs and I am losing my hair in globs , and I have to go have back surgery soon...Now I feel better. I guess I just needed to talk to someone; my husband isnt a very good listener when it comes to my weight issues he likes me for me but I dont like what i see yet. I am just hoping once they fix my back problems I will be able to walk better and be able to start a regular exercise routine. But anyways I am hoping I can at least be under 400lbs by the end of May first part of June, its my new goal. Well thanks to all that listen to me babble and hope to meet some more nice friends and if i can ever figure out how to post a pic I will. Thanks All. Diana

HI DIANA, DONT FEEL BAD SWEETIE. ITS GOING TO HAPPY. JUST CELEBRATE WHAT YOU HAVE LOST SO FAR, AND FROM WHAT MY DOC TOLD ME, WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR NOT LOSING ANYMORE, START BACK AT STAGE ONE. A TWO WEEK LIQUID DIET. ITS IS GOING TO HAPPEN, YOU JSUT HAVE TO HAVE FAITH. I FEEL THE SAME WAY AT TIMES. THERE ARE TIME I SWEAR I AM NOT LOSING, I FIND OUT TOMORROW EXACTLY HOW MUCH MORE I HAVE LOST SINCE JAN.27. BUT REMEMBER DONT FEEL BAD, ITS GOING TO HAPPEN AND IT WILL WORK FOR YOU. AND IF YOU CANT DO MUCH WALKING. TRY DOING LITTLE THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE. HOPE THIS MAKES YOU FEEL A LITTLE BETTER. TAKE CARE SHANNON

Hello, Don't get depressed over that loss! I have only lost 67 pounds and I am thrilled about it! I keep weighing myself daily. It helps me be in touch with what foods work for me and which do not. If I start gaining or not losing, I know I have been eating something wrong, the scale keeps me informed of that fact. Also, keep track of what you eat on www.fitday.com it helps you get an idea of what works for your body and what doesn't. It helps you keep track of your protein, carbs, fat etc. so you know you are eating the right things. Carbs will make you crave more carbs, if you find yourself eating lots of carbs, try laying off them for a while, you body will burn them instead of the fat that you want burned. My dietician recommended this to me... Calories =500-750 per day Fat = 20-30 grams per day Protein = 50-70 grams per day carbs = 30-50 grams per day Fluid = 64+ ounces per day Be happy with where you are now, it is SO FAR from where you were and MILES from where you COULD have been, with no surgery, I know I would have gained more by now. You are doing great! Keep it up! Tracy

Thanks to all those who helped me with my bad day yesterday, and Tracy thanks for the web site I am going to check it out; I do write down everything I eat and I think the carb thing has maybe been my problem, I went back and looked and it looks like your right thanks. I am doing much better today and feeling good about myself today; I guess just those old hormones kicking in...lol . But I know I feel better since I have had the surgery, I was not able to even get around without the help of a wheelchair or cane even though I still have to use the wheelchair to cook I am out of it most of the time and able to walk some and I am starting a new exercise routine with at least my arms til; I find out tomorrow what the doctors are going to do about my back surgery. But once again thanks so much it really helps to have supporters and people who are dealing with the same things as I am. Diana

Always try to remember the great feeling you had the first time you were down 10 pounds, then 20 and so on. You WILL get there. Be patient with yourself because your body has to readjust periodically. Plateus are awful but we all experience them at one time or another. Good luck and God bless.

Hi Diana: You have done fabulously (is that even a word?)--I'm awaiting my surgery which is in 13 days!!!! Be thankful your surgery is done with. I wondered how hard it would be to stick with healthy foods after the surgery since I don't eat that healthy right now (obviously!!!) I know about plateau's with your weight as you lose weight--it's no fun!!! I think when I'm plateauing, I will try and stay away from the scale for at least a week. I'm 50 --so of course, I'm thinking--why couldn't they have something like this when I was 30...I don't want to think that way 'cuz then it makes me so . You're lookin' good, kid--be paitient (it's not one of my strong points, either) & maybe I'll talk to you after my surgery. Wish me luck!!!! Melanie
