Scar Go, Mederma, or Scar Solution??
Hi All,
I'm almost 4 months post op and for some strange reason my incission line is irratating me. It's not keloid. It's flat. It itches sometimes. Now I hate the way it looks. Dr. Hendrick told me on my last visit that the color will fade over tme. Well, is any one out there using anything to help fade the scars from bariatric or plastic surgery?
I've heard of Scar Go, Scar Solution and Mederma. Do these work?
Love and Peace,
Collette
My scars are small b/c of Lap RNY, but as I am losing weight, they seem to be bumpier, like since there's less fat under the scar, it seems too big for the skin that's now there.
I think I remember my OBGYN giving me Mederma for my C-section scar, but I don't remember if it really helped or not.

I use mederma and at support group when a couple of us compared our scars (lap scars though) mine were lighter and flatter than some people who are over a year out. I would have to say it helps. I chose to use it because a woman and her husband came to the group and the husband had this massive scar (that we could barely see anymore) on his hand that he says was very old and he had started using mederma and it went from being very raised and pink to flat and white over like 7 weeks of daily use. I figured it was worth a shot although I must admit I dont always use it every day.
I used cocoa butter on my belly religiously for the first 3 months...been slack lately and my dry skin is gone a LOT....
my scars are smooth flat and very small..they healed after the strips came off extremely fast and no infection/oozing etc... I had 2 little suture places that stuck out but left them alone and at some point they disappeared.
Mine are just extremely small and feel normal but are a light pink in color...of course I am extremely pale white in color so the pinkish rose color shows up.
My only weird scar line and my biggest is the belly button incision. but since it is on the side of my bb the slight bumpiness is minimalized and doesn't stand out.
I have the mederma but don't like the smell and they want you to rub it in several times a day...I am entirely TOOO low maintenance for that!
From what I have read/researched it is the ACT of rubbing/massaging the scar tissue that is what actually heals it. SO it doesn't really matter what you use on the scars as long as you are massaging it on a regular basis to help break down the scar tissue underneath.
