Exercise?
Hi Donna,
The first 3 months, I was bad and did not exercise. Month 4, I started my exercise again and have continued M-F 5 days a wweek 30-45 minutes. I use an indoor walkaerobic tape (Leslie Sansone 3-mile walk/firm). If I had to go to a gym or even walk outside, I know I wouldn't do it.
I can really feel the difference exercise makes, but I have to tell you I was discouraged when I lost only 5 pounds month 4 after all that exercise. So far, this month is better, 5 pounds in 2 weeks.

Hi Donna,
I exercise about 5 or 6 times a day. Monday and Wednesday I walk 3 miles a day going as fast as possible usually about 45mins. Tuesday and Thursday I play tennis for about 1 1/2 hours. Friday and Saturday I work out at the gym (usually the eliptical machine for 30-40 mins and then some tennis). I have really enjoyed exercising. This past weekend I wasn't able to get it all in and have just felt a little sluggish today... the 3 miles really kicked my butt!
I didn't do too much the first couple of months but I feel so great now. I know that it helped to pick up my weight loss. I have just over 35 more pounds to get to goal and without the exercise I don't think I would make it. My loss is slowing down a little bit but I can tell that I have lost some serious inches. I am fitting into some 12s (if they run big) and usually 14s now; that is down from a 22 and 24 bottoms.

Hiyeee!
I started exercising about 8 weeks out. I go to the gym 3 times a week (sometimes two, sometimes one) and I have varied what I am doing. In my third month I really hit the gym hard and did a lot of weight training. Well the scale didn't hardly move at all. Then the next few weeks I ate what I wanted and more often and rarely made it to the gym and the pounds flew off. I am confused now, but I would have to assume that I really was building muscle when I was doing the weights and that accounts for the difference there, BUT I do think I lose better when I eat less... more often.
I vary what I do. I started with basic cardio (treadmill and bike) then weights... and now water aerobics. They, I am hoping, will be the right mix of cardio and resistance.... but my scale isnt moving. I am not motivated enough to go walk outside in ANY weather and never could do the tapes at home(the refrigerator is too close and awfully distracting lol) I like the gym and I reward myself with the steam room and hot tub. Hope that helps

Right now I walk everyday 20 minutes or so and I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. My weight loss has not been very good this month. BUT I have to always keep in mind that everyone is different. I get in my protein and fluids but yet I still am having a hard with it coming off! Oh well it will all happen in due time...

I began walking (at first for only 10 min.) about 10 days out from surgery. I kept "upping" my time and now walk anywhere from 30 min. to 70 min. a day, depending on what I can get in. I do miss an ocassional day but not often. The only time since surgery that I missed a lot was during month 3 and I was sick for 2 weeks and just couldn't get myself going....and I didn't loose what I hoped to that month. This month, I'm walking more and also loosing a little better too.
I am convinced that exercise is going to be the key to long-term success for me so I am highly committed to it. I gained the majority of my weight during my pregnancies, though it was a constant battle before that. I think the only reason I essentially "won" the battle during those years was due to exercise. When the babies came along, I got very side-tracked with exercise, and it got harder to walk due to the added weight....a viscious cycle....but now that I'm "on a roll" with exercise, I do intend to keep it up faithfully.

Thanks for all the replies! You guys are the BEST!
I go to Curves 4 days a week, and walk 30-45 minutes on the other 3 days. I was wondering if that was enough to keep my weight loss going.
Thanks for all the good ideas!
(Hey! They finally posted my picture! That was taken at 3 months. Only 124 more pounds to go!! )
