Q.O.D. 4/12
This was a MAJOR problem for me prior to surgery. I was on lasix EVERY day. I had terrible retention problems in the hospital right after surgery and had to be given IV Lasix and to be recatheterized. However, since then I have not used a diuretic at all.....but I can definately tell if I eat salt....i.e., I had one very small piece of ham for Easter dinner....was very salty.....I gained 2 lbs. overnight. It will be gone tomorrow and I'm drinking water like crazy today to move the salt out but I think I always have been and always will be very sensitive to salt. I didn't have a lot of trouble through the winter (after surgery) but now, on the warmer days, my fingers swell even if I do watch my salt so I may have to take my lasix in the summer again....surgeon said I could take it up to 3-4 times a week (every other day, no more). I have also had terrible ankle swelling and foot swelling over the years. It is better, but still a bit of a problem....just something I have to live with.
