Q.O.D. 4/12
It is a chilly 50 degress this morning in Houston
It feels so nice
I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend. Did anyone eat chocolate?
I had three Russel Stover's low carb chocolates and they gave me such gas that my husband has hidden them
Anyway, now on to the real question of the day:
Do you, or did you before surgery, retain fluid, and how does (or did) that affect your weight?
Have a great day

I think that my weight was so high that a few extra pounds a couple days a month didn't affect me at all. I do notice now that I get bloated when something isn't right. I think my gallbladder is going bad & when it starts giving me pain, my belly gets tight.
Since this question seems to be aimed at women's systems, I wanted to report how lucky I have been feeling. I had a hysterectomy last Sept. If it hadn't been for that surgery I would be in the Sept 2003 group! Since all the organs are gone my OBGYN offered HRT for me. I chose to use a patch since I knew I wouldn't absorb the pills as well. Well, I have decided that I don't even need the patch. I have only had a few light "warm" flashes, not at all uncomfortable. I have gone for weeks without the patch & no symptons at all. I had been told that estrogen is stored in fat & is released as we lose weight, possibly causing problems even for pre-menopausal women but I seem to be skipping that problem. Yeah!

Before Surgery I had to take a diuretic on a daily basis and around that time of the month I could have a 10 lb gain from fluid alone. Since surgery I have stopped taking the diuretic but I still can have a 4-5 lb gain if it is that time of the month or I eat too much salt. I am trying to find natural ways to relieve this problem. Dandelion tea seems to help some

Hello everyone.....Finally back from a LONG Easter weekend......I did eat some chocolate and it wasn't sugar free....naughty me!!!!! But on a good note I finaly broke my plateau.....I was stuck at 209 for like three weeks (it seemed that long) but this morning I am down to 205...woo-hoo that makes 88 pounds so far!!!! I am now hoping to make the 100 by 6 month....we will see.......As for the QOD....Yes I did retain water...not badly enough to require diuretics daily, but after a long day my hands and ankles would always be swollen....I am glad that is gone! Take Care

Good Morning Jackie,
It is 73 here in the Tampa area and rainy. We were going to go to the beach today but we got rained out. :o(
Yes I retained water. I would wake up in the morning and my fingers/hands would be swolen. I also had edema in my calves really bad. They would swell up so badly that I could push on it and leave a very deep depression in them. I had that for years and was on indapamide for it. It is actually a BP med but it also works as a diuretic. Never had BP issues though.
Have a great day!
