Q.O.D. 4/11
Happy Easter Everyone
I love this day, not only for it's meaning to me as a Christian, but also because of all the fond memories I have of it as a Child. In England we would go and visit all our relatives and each one would give us chocolate Easter eggs. We didn't have the Easter Bunny or egg hunts, but it was a great time to spend with family and get all the chocolate you would want. One year I broke out in a rash and my mom said it was because I had eaten too much chocolate and I would be fine...turns out I had German Measels
Anyway, the question of the day is:
What do you enjoy about Easter?
Have a wonderful Easter Sunday

I love Easter because it is the day, as a Christian that I celebrate God's amazing love for us through His son! I also enjoy worshipping with my church family on Easter (and other Sundays) and I enjoy the "kid things" too though tend to feel we've (society) commercialized Easter too much, like we have Christmas.

Have a Blessed Easter!
Happy Easter!
As a Christian, this day is so imiportant as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. WIthout his death and resurrection, we would not have atonement for our sins through the gift of his salvation.
I'm not sure how the bunnies and chocolates got to symbolize Easter, but my favorite memory as a child (being the only girl cousin) I always got the biggest chocolate bunny or basket. Never failed!

As a christian it always amazes me how Easter kind of gets swept under carpet, for if it weren't for Jesus dying and raising from the dead we would not have forgiveness of sins and communion with our Father in Heaven. Praise Him Forever!! My mom always hid our Easter baskets and we would have to look all over the house for them, one year when I was a teenager she had given me a basket with a chocolate cross in it (among other things) and she hid it in the oven (the gas oven). Yep you guessed it, the cross and everything else in the basket melted because of the pilot. Oh well. Anyway, my mom lives in NJ and we live here in KY so we don't get to see family for Easter, we go to our pastor's house every year and they have people over who do not have family in the area. It is very nice and it touches our hearts that they open their home to us. Have a blessed Easter....

I love holidays mostly because its a time to spend with my family and grandkids; I also enjoy the time we share together.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day like i did. Enjoy and God bless.

p.s. i have to admit i feel pretty bad in a way i ate some cheesecake today and a piece of chocolate first since my surgery; it was so good but i know i cant do that anymore.
What I enjoyed most about today was spending the day with my 88 year old Aunt Moe.She is bed ridden and we love her so much. She has done so much for all of us over the years and we all gathered at her tiny 4 room house and had a great day.I don't think she'll be with us next Easter so i'm glad we had today together. steve
We did nothing wonderful to celebrate Easter this year. However, I wanted to share with you my best Easter memory. As a small girl we often didn't have much money. My Daddy drove a taxi cab in a small town and although us kids didn't know it, we were poor. Mom did everything to give us what we needed & we always got new outfits to wear to Sunday School on Easter. This particular year though must have been tough. We got our clothes but there was no money for eggs to color. Mom couldn't stand that we would not be able to hunt for the eggs so she stayed up late on Saturday & made eggs out of powdered sugar & decorated them with frosting. I imagine she used a fondant recipe to make them. I remember they were very sweet. They were also the best tasting treat I ever had. This is the first Easter that my Mom is not here with us but she is celebrating in heaven along with my Dad.

We aren't religious and didn't do anything to celebrate Easter per se.
My dogs got toys and Jelly Bean shaped plastic eggs with treats hidden inside that they have to figure out how to get open!
It is sooo much fun watching them play with the eggs and trying to figure out how to get out the good stuff inside!!! And you can do it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!
My In Laws gave up Easter Baskets with Reese cups, eggs etc and a bunch of EAS Low Carb bars....I hope I like them....apparently they weren't listening when I mentioned I love the CARBORITE BARS at Walmart (where my MIL works) so they may have just wasted a TON of $$ since I don't like most low carb bars for more than a bite or two then I want to throw them away. BUT it was the thought that counts--however they can't afford to waste their $ on me.
My family is still in Japan and my relatives are an 8+ hr drive away in Hickory, NC
When I was a kid we always got excited about getting our Easter Baskets. I remember sneaking downstairs one year --the Bunny would always leave them out overnight--one year the bunny was lazy and didn't put them out...I snuck downstairs and he hadn't come yet....very upsetting!
When we were older we had easter egg hunts for things like $ and coupons for fast food and an extra 15 mins on our curfew etc....That was fun even in High School.
Not sure what kind of traditions I will start when we have kids.
A church here in Pittsburgh decided to WHIP the EASTER BUNNY to show kids that he isn't a religious symbol or something along those lines. It made the evening news... My brother found out that the Easter Bunny wasn't real along with Santa Claus and everything else due to something like that a long time ago--he wasn't ready for it.
Apparently a lot of young kids at this event found out the same thing and were VERY UPSET. People don't think....YES it is very very very commercialized along with every other holiday and event in America. BUT that doesn't mean you have to cross the line.
