You hit a nerve with this question! To this very day I HATE the nickname my family gave me. I ignore anybody who uses it. That seems to get the point across. I still have an aunt that uses it whenever we see each other. Needless to say we don't see each other much.
P.S. My older brother at 4 years old could not say brother. What came out was my nickname.
When I was little I couldn't say brother either and that is what my daddy always called his brother. I called him "Bubba" and always did...but it wasn't until I was much much older that I realized that "Bubba" is really kind of a "redneck-y" nickname. It was just what I called my uncle and I had never thought about it any other way. I hate the nickname anytime I hear it other than in reference to my uncle who died 18 years ago.
My nickname depends. My mom calls me Crissy as a term of endearment, but I don't let other people call me that. I also hate when people want to shorten my name to Chris....yuck! I had a friend in college who called me critty and I still use that to this day as my email address. My nephews revised the critty and call me Aunt Crispy. Strange.
I had an 8th grade teacher who called me Jennifer. He had a nickname for everyone and that was when the show "Hart to Hart" was popular and the lady's name on there was Jennifer Hart. My last name was Hart and so he called me "Jennifer".
And, last but not least, I have had many many people over the years call me Cindy. It's not really a nickname, but they just mess up my name. I guess I just look like a Cindy because it has happened many, many times!

Hello,
Up late today as the kids are out of school again. Feels good to sleep in! OK nicknames...As a child my parents called me "Monkey Do" because I copied my much older brother and sister...hence Monkey see, Monkey do. In Jr. High I was "Pookie"(I think I prefer Pookie to Monkey Do). Now, I guess the closest thing I have to a nickname is Mom. Have a great day and HAPPY EASTER!

Not anything very exciting or interesting....the name I go by now, is actually a nickname for my full name, Jennifer which I almost never go by. And I do agree with "mom".....I hear that one a lot and sometimes so much that I tune it out....then they (my kids) call me "Jenni" to get my attention...and it usually works.
Jenni
Good Question..When I was little my sisters all called me Kimbo. THat stuck for years then. I used to drink when I was younger.. And when I drank I like to talk alot.. Now picture a cricket when it gets in your house it drives you crazy.. My nickname was Cricket.. Not many people call me that now.. AT church they all call me "SKINNY".. WOOHOO. I can get used to that one.. I have nick names for my kids and some of them they hate.. My youngest is Booty Man.. Cause when he was a baby he would always rip his diaper off and shake his booty. And my oldest is called "lil Buck cause his daddy is called buck. Guess those stick. Most people call My oldest Codeman.. Cause his name is COdy. I identify with the Momma cause everyone in this house including my husband calls me "MOMMA"
Hello! I can't really say that I had a nickname, in H.S. some called me Turtle Face... I just ignored them, they didn't count. But my family and friends called me anything that rythmed with Jill, so I will let all of you use your imaginations! Also I have heard more versions of Jack and Jill than probably any one person I know. Wishing all of you a very safe and Blessed Easter Holiday!!
