Oh Kim, You need to have your blood tested! Ask Jackie the RN for the technical things to test for, but you need to know your iron, B12, potassium numbers at least. Lisa G

I have not had any blood work yet, but I will have to for my 6 month check up.

Hello Kim, I agree you should have had your blood tested at least once so far. My doctor tested mine at 6 weeks and will again at 6 months, after that, I would guess 1 year. Even that is pretty far spaced out, but you should have it tested to make sure you don't have any deficiencies. Always better to catch them early before they cause damage. Tracy

Yes, indeed. Testing is important. My surgeon tests several times throughout the first year, and a couple times a year after. He repeats that it's easier to prevent a deficiency disorder than cure it! I wouldn't want to go there! Donna

Oh my yes.....talk to your PCP if your surgeon doesn't order them. I just had my 3 month labs only to find out that I'm quite anemic!!!! I feel TOTALLY FINE! But my labs show that I need extra iron so I think we've caught it early enough. I have to wonder if it has to do with the fact that I had a 3 week period not too long ago. Yes, you NEED to have your labs checked, probably every 3 months the first year. My PCP has told me I will have tohave my iron/ hemoglobin checked again in a month...she really wants to keep an eye on this! Jenni
