Extreme Weight Loss

Greetings Everyone, I had surgery on December 12, 2003 and I am now down 100 pounds total. I lost 20 before surgery. I have had no hunger pains and my body fat went from 30% before surgery to 12% as of Monday. Is all this weight loss normal? I feel great and have energy so can it really be bad? I am only about 15 pounds from my goal weight that my doc wanted me to get down to. Has anyone else had this type of weight loss or know someone who has? Thanks for all the help. Curtis

I run 3 to 4 times a week and I am up to about 20 plus miles a week. I hope to be able to run a mini-marathon this summer which is about 12.5 miles. I also lift weights 4 to 5 times a week. I know I am active, just a little worried about the quick weight loss. Thanks. Curtis

Hi Curtis, all I can say is WOW! My surgery was 12/1/03 and I've lost 61 pounds which I think is about "normal". However it is a known fact that men lose weight faster than women, but WOW! Good for you!! Just enjoy it, sounds like you are doing all the right things... May God bless you. -Jill 311/250/170?

Curtis, keep up the good work. I think it is the exercising that is the result of your great progress. What did your doctor say about it? The nutrician told me that I was right on track with my weight loss (60 lbs). I am working on working out more, drinking more water, and eating more fish and chicken. Take care and God Bless You. I think this surgery is a blessing from GOD. I hasn't been sick and have lots of energy.

On my 3-month checkup the nutritionist put me back on protein shakes. I was not real happy with that. They also told me that my weight loss was at 65% and it should be at around 35%. I started out eating a lot of soy protein and have added chicken, fish, turkey, and some beef as well. Thanks for all the nice coments. Good luck to you as well. Curtis

Do you still have your gall bladder? Losing an enormous amount of weight very quickly can cause gall stones. Believe me, I know. It happened to me 4 years ago when I was taking Meridia.
