Q.O.D..Day 11
T.G.I.F. to all you Decemberites I challenge everyone to do something this weekend they have not been able to do for a long time because of their weight, and then Monday we can tell all
Today's question is...
What, if any, major life change are you hoping to accomplish when you get to a healthy weight?
wow hadn't really thought about that...I am in school now for respiratory therapy which was started about 6 months before I decided to pursue WLS. The only thing we put off (and probably would have needed too for school anyways) was starting a family this summer. I had told the in-laws to expect a baby around 2005. SO now it is the 2006 plan since I can't start trying til NEXT summer. BUT to be honest I am not in any hurry. NO tick tock for me yet...even at 30!
So changing careers and starting a family withing 1-2 yrs of surgery. That is probably enough for me!
But I would like to get motivated to do regular exercise....maybe once I am smaller I will feel more comfortable to join a class of some sort (yoga, aerobics etc...) Try to get involved in more social activities...maybe I won't feel so left out/ignored when I am normal weight. I dress nice, don't stink, consider myself to have a well rounded personality/education wise--the only negative I can think of is--my weight! (ok and I do speak my mind when the need arises)
Hello Miss Jackie,
I don't have any great plan to go back to a wonderful career or anything noble like that. I love being here for my kids. Whenever they need me, they can always count on mom, I can tell they really appreciate that. Being thinner to me just will mean feeling better about myself, having more confidence, maybe getting some self esteem. I think the best thing is I'll be able to do more with my family. So many times I have sat at home while they go fishing or to a theme park just because it was too much work, too hot and too hard to walk so much.
I already have a lot more stamina, still hate the heat, but maybe I can tolerate it a bit better now. I can ride my bike much farther than I could, I can shop without my back and feet killing me. This spring or summer we will have our boat on the water and we got a new huge tent for camping (have not done that since I was a Brownie) Doing everything that I want to do with my family will be accomplishment enough for me! Take care! Tracy
Well, Last year I took my real estate classes and took my state boards here last month. Because of the WLS I had confidence in myself when sitting for myi state exam and passed. I feel great with the current weight loss-it makes me fill like I am taking care of myself again. Which as wives and mothers we somethings neglect. Another thing I did was I have always loved to sing. Well, with being heavier I felt like people would look at my "fat" and not listen to the song. So, I had enough courage to stand up and sing a solo at church the other weekend.
Hope you all have a terrific weekend!
Karie
