Saturday is my birthday and I need some suggestions!
Saturday will be my first birthday since my WLS in December. Usually we get together with family and eat out somewhere and have a huge cake. Honestly, right now I just feel stressed thinking about it.
Please help! I'm new to this Texas board but have been reading it daily and really admire and respect you all. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I just wrote this post this morning on the Alabama Board and thought I've just transfer it over to you in case you were wanting to still have a cake. As for going out to eat, we would still go. Me and my husband just share a plate anymore. I never eat more then I should and I stick to chicken entrees. My dh doesn't mind chicken so it works out well for us.

it turned out really yummy. It was my husbands birthday and I wanted to be able to have some cake too so I whipped up a SF cake made with sweet n low. It did have a little bit of regualr sugar but not enough to worry about dumping. I ust ate a small piece and didn't finish that. If you want to make one yourself go to the sweet n low web site, www.sweetnlow.com and click on recipes then click on desserts. There are quite a few yummy ones I might have to try. I use sweet n low cause splenda hurts my "lower stomach". Chelle E.
Hi Mindy,
Don't be stressed or affraid of going out to eat and celebrating! I have been several times and do just fine! Just eat what you know will set with you. If the family gets a cake, let them enjoy it knowing that they are celebrating you! Have some watermelon or fruit to celebrate with! My first piece of watermelon after surgery (i had it at a restaurant) was as good to me as cake!!!! Stick a candle in your fruit! You are celebrating more than your birthday this year, you are celebrating a new you! SO ENJOY!!! Food does not make or break the celebration, it is the people we love! Tracy
Mindy,
For New years I bought a SF chocolate at publix. It was to die for everyone even the kids at the party loved it. My grand children love chocolate and they keep going back for more.
As long as you know what you can eat, it's not hard to go out with friends
Keep up the good work. Soup is what I order to eat most of the time when a reesturant trys to charge for sharing. then I take my bite or 2 off my husbands plate.
