MEAT

I had my surgery on Dec 8th, and have been doing pretty well. I'm down 68 lbs. The one thing I am having the roughest time with is meat. I can eat ground beef as long as its not like a hamburger patty. and I can eat sliced turkey and tuna. But any meat that is the least bit solid-it's torture. I chew it until it is practically paste in my mouth, swallow then it just sits there like a rock for hours, or until I throw it up. This makes it so hard to get all my protien in. Is anyone else having this problem? Sandra

My surgery was the day after yours & yes, I know where you are coming from. I have the same problem except I cannot eat turkey at all & tuna just tastes nasty to me now. I can eat meat as long as it is in soup or chili but that's about it. Oh, I did manage a chicken leg last weekend. If it continues, I will call my surgeon. By the way, we are pretty much doing the same losing. I am down 71 lbs today. Dixie

Ladies You are not alone. I have this problem as well if the meat isn't really juicy such as chilly or once in a while tuna mixed with mayo (that doesn't always work) I too have a problem. It's getting old. Sometimes I just want to eat with my family. Those darn shakes get expensive as well

try veggie meats like the morning star brands. I have trouble with meat still so I eat more of the veggie meats to help get my protein in. They tend to agree with me more and stay down okay

I'm a little late on the posting, but wanted to add this. I'm a 12/8/03er myself and my surgeon said no red meat of any kind until after 6 months. I can now have baked chicken and baked fish (only if Tilapia or Perch), white meat tuna with lots of mayo. Can have light crackers but no doughy bread.
