UGH UGH UGH nothing for 2 weeks now...even though I have upped my protein and water.... I am down 25 lbs (on my home scale) officially at Dr's 20 lbs at my 1 month. I blamed my monthly visitor at first, now I am blaming my birth control patch. I know I need to excercise BUT someone pleaes explain to me how mathematically I am not LOSING weight! On average I get NO more than 700-800 calories and according to my weight/height etc...I can eat 2700 calories to MAINTAIN my current weight. According to an online site you need 3500 calories for a pound so every 2 days I should lose 1 lb...so I should be down an additional 7 lbs by now. BUT nothing is happening...I drink a lot of water but don't seem to urinate as much as I should under the quantaties--so maybe I am holding all of this water weight.... let's see Water weighs 8.34 lbs a Gallon and I drink 1/2 gallon a day...so about 4 lbs. And maybe if I am lucky I lose 1-2 lbs urinating...but I doubt it! SO 2 lbs is hanging around Don't you like this math! Does any of this make sense?! I really want to lose 15 lbs this month and next so I can be down 50lbs when I weight in with the doctor in April!

My loss is soooooo sloooooowwww!!! I am in week 10 and have lost 30 pounds since surgery. The only thing I can think of that is slowing me down is the fact that I lost 26 pounds just before surgery. Maybe my body is taking this loss into consideration as it is trying to adjust. I am so thankful for the 56 pound total loss, but my doctor goes by surgery date weight and is going to be real mad next month if I don't lose 3.5 pounds a week!!

Hi Shannon, my surgery was also on the 29th and I have lost 24lbs. So you are ahead of me! It is really going slow, but my nutritionist says to be sure to get in enough calories. If you eat too few your body thinks it is starving and will slow down metabolism more to conserve calories. She said to up the calories by 50 - 100 more and see if that helps. Seems wierd to eat more to lose weight but it's worth a try. Bev

Hello, It may be NOTHING that you are doing wrong at all! At about 4 weeks I hit a plateau. I never expected to hit one so soon after surgery but I am told by MANY that this is a common occurrence! Just hang on, mine lasted a painful 3 weeks, then the weight started coming off again. They say that your body needs time to "catch up" with your weight loss. Don't panic, your scale WILL move again!

Try to eat a little more - around the 1000 mark - I had very no-loss or very slow loss for weeks 5, 6, 7 & 8 and then this week I lost 12 pounds!! It seems to be normal to have a slow-down in the second month while the body adjusts! Have faith !

I don't know that I could get in another 200 calories--I can't really eat more than the 3/4 Cup at each meal...and I don't necessarily just eat low fat/no carbs... We are not supposed to snack.....but if I can't get all my food in at my main meals then I will have a string cheese, spoonful of sesame seeds, spoonful of peanut butter, a few pork rinds, low carb cinnamon crisp things etc.... They only want 3 meals/day. I don't mind doing what I have tooo....but even with 2 protein shakes I can't get in the calories! Any suggestions???

You might want to try inputting everything you eat and the protein shakes into fitday.com. Before I started doing that, I thought I was "eating nothing", but when I input all the little nothings into the program, it easily adds up to several hundred calories. Try tracking for a week and see how it goes.

I've only lost about 30 pounds so far too. But I'm not sweating it. I know plateaus happen and I'm sticking to my plan. I'm trying to ween myself away from the scale becasue even though I don't see it moving backwards, I know I'm a loser. My body is changing for the better. Over the past 9 years, I'd stop my diet after I hit a plateau. I'm riding this one out.

6 weeks out yesterday.. I know the feeling about the plateau.. I hit one about 2 weeks ago.. Totally I have lost 43 since surgery!.. The main thing is you have GOT TO EXERCISE.. I joined a gym 3 weeks ago and I lost 23 pounds in 3 weeks.. Not only that I lost 6 inches in my waist and 6 in my hips! I dont eat the calories I'm suppose to I dont know how to get them in. But I do my best. I don****ch calories but I do watch my carbs. And I hate water but I do my best to get it down. The good thing is my decaf/unsweet tea counts as my water!.. Good luck and dont get discouraged! Kim

Yep, plateau! They are painful to say the least!! I hit one at 6 weeks out and stayed there for 2 weeks before losing again. I was stuck at -36 pounds and the scale even said that I went up 1.5 pounds at one of my appointments during that time. I attributed some of that to drinking more water and some to exercising. Hang in there. The loss will start again! God bless, Andrea
