Secondary Surgery
I had my surgery 12/1 and am down about 37 pounds not counting the 10 I lost with the Dr required Atkins diet presurgery. I am still having food issues like I have read many others are having. Food gets stuck alot and I have to throw it up. I am freezing ALL the time and I am so dehydrated. Yesterday I had preadmissions testing for a secondary surgery I am having 2/10 to remove a grapefruit sized dermoid cyst from my ovaries. 12 sticks and 45 minutes later the nurses were finally able to extract 4 vials of blood. It was horrible. Than suddenly I noticed how bad my dehydration has become, my skin is so dry it is cracking in places. I feel extremely run down and blah. The anesthiologist is talking about putting my IV in my neck, which totally freaked me out. I am taking my vitamins Chewable Centrum, chewable Vit C, Chewable calcium and sublingual B12), I eat my protein first, I drink what I can considering I work FT and have 2 kids to deal with at night but I just don't feel healthy right now...I worry about getting worse after this second surgery...Any advice???
oh and someone asked about childrens motrin...I was told we could have childrens liquid motrin ONLY.
I have a problem with food getting stuck but I know it is from eating too fast or taking too big of bites. I have no problem with dehydration, here are some tips that might help you. I drink a bottled water called Propel, it is flavored and has a few vitamins. I also eat lots of sugar free popsicles, I get mine from Wal-Mart (they are not the name brand). They are delicious, especially the banana flavored. I also buy a bag of ice from Sonic (fast food place) it is small pieces and it is soft and easy to chew. Because I get cold so easy I just cover up with my blankee when I eat the ice or popsicles. I also drink sugar free Kool-aid. I was told I could take Tylenol (regular) my Dr says that ibuprophen (Motrin) can cause stomach bleeding so he said to take it in much moderation. Try sugar free instant breakfast with some fruit in the morning or some oatmeal. Remeber to get your protien first! Let me know how you are doing. By the way my surgery date was 12/11/03 and I have lost 38 lbs.Denise
