Back to work, but what to eat?
I went back to work last week and did just fine. I work retail and don't have to work very many hours coming back this time of year so I think it will be fine. I'm glad I took Christmas and New Year's off. Anyway, I'm used to buying food at work (snack bar) - soft pretzels, sandwiches, etc. Now that I can eat soft foods, and regular food next week, I'm nervous about choosing the wrong food when I am away from home. I can tolerate all meat so far and noodles and such, just not milk.
Is anyone else nervous about eating again and do you have any suggestions? I'd like a salad, but I think it's too early for that one.
Hi Melissa~ Maybe you can try those little lunch packs of Tuna. They come with mayo and a few crackers and don't need to be refrigerated. I have had tuna with a cracker all crushed up in to to give it some crunch and it was good. Or how about individual cups of SF applesauce?
I am also dying for a good salad but my Dr said to wait until at leat week 9, then just a bit at a time. I am...was...such a sweets person, but I don't miss those at all, just salad~Kimberly 245/210/130
May sound strange but I bring 2 Louis Kemp Imitation crab legs to work with me, along with some tarter sauce. It goes down very well which is great cause not much else does. Otherwise, try SF Yogurt (Dannon LIght and Lively) or cheese sticks. I have been drinking Isopure during the day to get in the protein and than have just a quick lunch of the crab sticks...that is enough to hold me till dinner.
I walk out the door every morning with a shake that I make with ice cubes, water and 2 scoopes of proplete gold. Goes down ok. But it has 40g of protein in it. I figure if i get that in then I am doing well.
Luch is usually dannon yogurt and cottage cheese,. sometimes string cheese. Plus I always have a bottle of Propel water made by gatoraide.
Hard boiled egg is good, or deviled egg, egg salad. Beef Jerkey is great.
Chili from wendy;s is good to. Today I had cream of potato soup that was excellent.
