It's been 3 weeks today and I've lost 23 lbs. I started feeling really good last weekend. So I deceided to go back to work. I teach so I really don't have the physical demands that would prevent me from doing a good job. Plus, I left my classroom in auto-pilot for a substitute teacher to just breeze through each assignment. Thus, last week was a walk in the park for me. However, this passed weekend was a trip. I think I ate too fast because I felt like what I think a snake feels like after eating a pig. I thought I would die. Then, I ate 4 tablespoons of soft-serve ice cream at Sam's Club because I couldn't imagine eating anything else. Talk about making bad matters worse! My heart started racing and pounding, my mouth started watering and then I started to gag and heave. I thought I would die. Even wanted to for a moment because my body was out of control. Then, I started doing my deep breathing and begging the Lord to help me and please forgive me for violating my new diet. Then, I decided I wouldn't eat at all. Oh, the gasssssss, the gassssss, the gassssss!!!!!!!!!

I've been there. It almost feels as if you are going to black-out? For some reason, it happens almost every time I eat, no matter what I eat. Slowly though it seems to be getting milder. Good luck with your venture.

Oh hunny ... bless your heart!!! I am 3 weeks post-op today too!!! I have "dumped" (mildly) once ... and I just chewed on a piece of orange, and then spit it out ... but my tummy hurt really bad for a bit, until I went to the bathroom. I'm just glad that I was at home when it happened ... but not once have I regretted this, or even that experience. Hang in there and stay strong!!!

My doctor okayed me for regular foods over a week ago. But I'm putting myself back on liquids and only very soft foods. I'm going to take it slow. I reread my discharge papers which states it takes THREE months for the intestines to fully heal. I must remember my body has been through a VERY radical surgery that will effect how my body will digest food for the rest of my life. I'm like new babe again. Hi I am three weeks post. I felt okay the first 2 weeks then starting exp. what you are this week. I talked to the doc yesterday and am having a upper GI in the morning.........I feel like everything (pureed) gets stuck at the base of my throat...........It hurts then I heave and thick frothy garbage comes up. I'm almost back to liquids...........sad part is I am really craving a salad!

I know exactly where you are coming from. I had a heck of a time trying any kind of soft food let alone solid food. I can't eat anything sweet at all. Finally last week I was able to add some chicken cut up really good. Felt good to chew! I just started back to work yesterday and my surgery was on the 10th of December. I was just to weak because of being sick so much. But I am now on the right track. If I start feeling like I ate to much I get up and walk it off. Seems to work. I have never wished I hadn't done the surgery. I would do it again in a heart beat. 35lbs so far and feel and look so much better. Hang in there...Pattie
