Standing Still
This makes me feel better reading this. I had started to panic. I had my LAP RNY on Dec. 19 and have only lost 18 pounds and it feels like everything had stopped. Slow slow slow. I am getting in 60-80 g of protein, keeping my carbs below 30, 64-+ water and still nothing.... Glad I am not in this boat alone. My surgeon said I would lose slower because I started a lower weight...274... but yesterday I was starting to think that the surgery wasn't gonna work for me.
I had lap rny on 12/29 lost about 9 lbs first 10 days when I was on clear liquids only. Started eating after my drain came out on Thursday and after 4 days of eating (very little pureed type food --no more than 1/2 cup at a meal total...I have gained 1 pound. SO I have decided to NOT weigh the rest of the week.
I think my body was in starvation mode and now that it is getting FOOD it wants to hold onto EVERY little ounce I give it.
I know I am not drinking enough yet either.
I go back Jan 28 and I hope by then I am down 20 lbs total for the first month. I won't complain about that number at all!
But I "only" weighed 246 morning of surgery (5'3") so I still have over 100 lbs to go!

Hi. I am three weeks post. I lost 30 right away but havne't lost anything the last 4 days. I think part of it is my poor water intake........not sure. I have a friend who had this 5 yrs ago and she did what you are doing.........she would lose............then nothing......then start losing again..........hang in there!
Keep your head up and you will make it. I have lost 25lbs on 20 days since surgery and I see my self getting skinny !! I still have fears of how to fit in again. I am still at home and will not be bac****il Feb 2nd 04 will I start looking for transfer or something else?
Stay strong and enjoy the beauty of renewing your life. It ain't about the looks but our healths!!
I have been at a stand still too. I was getting really depressed about it. I know my body went into shock over the lack of or little amount of food I was taking in. I actually got hungry pains for about two weeks. I bounced around between 272 nd 269 for about a week and a half. I had just started pureed foods too. Plus, I had my TOM as well. Today I did my weekly weigh in and finally I am down to 267 and TOM of finally over. I guess it's normal for some of us.
Surgery 12/10 - Lost 25lbs. the first 3 weeks then only 1 pound in the last 2 weeks. I believe what is happening is that my body is in starvation mode and is trying to protect itself and using the least amount of energy possible. I am run down and have also gotten a cold. I am sure it will start moving soon. Seems like a normal thing from all the posts I have read. 225/199/120

Surgery date was Dec. 2, 2003. I can't tell you how much better this all makes me feel. I too was thinking that I was going to be the first person this didn't work for. I lost quite a bit of weight in the very beginning, but for the past 3 weeks the scale is moving at a snails pace or not at all. And because I lost so much in the beginning everyone keeps saying but you look so good why are you worrying. They just don't get it. The fact that I have slowed down soooo much from before just has me in a tither. Anyway, I am really glad to see that I truly don't have to push the panic button. But won't we all be relieved when we are through this plateau and are losing again.
