7 Days out and feeling great
Jeanette I am glad that you are doing so well! Congrats!!! I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and I too feel great except for the last 2 days. I was on clear liquids the first week, full liquids 2nd week, and now I'm on pureed foods. I had serious cravings my first 2 weeks, not that I was hungry at all, just in my head I wanted to taste certain things. The 3rd week when I was able to eat pureed food all my cravings went away! =) I am eating mostly protein now, chicken, salmon, tuna, and cottage cheese. Since I got tired, dizzy, and saw double the last 2 days I incorporated banana's into my diet also....that has made all the difference as today I felt like a million bucks!! =0)
Congrats again and best of luck in your new life!
MY DOCTOR SENT ME HOME ON PUREE DIET.. AND I HAVENT AT ALL SINCE MY SURGERY.. I HAVE CUT OUT THE SUGAR AND NO DAIRY SO FAR.. WELL A LITTLE MILK. ALSO I HAVENT HAD BREAD YET.. I PUT SOME TUNA IN A MIXER WITH SOME MAYO AND A FEW CRACKERS AND IT WAS REAL GOOD.. ALSO I BOUGHT SOME OF THAT CAMPBELLS HOME STYLE CHUNKY CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP TODAY AND I TOOK OUT THE CELERY AND BLENDED IT UP.. IT WAS SO GOOD I ATE IT FOR LUNCH AND DINNER! IM 7 DAYS OUT TOMORROW! KIM
I too had my lap rny 12/29....I don't get to change to the pureed phase til tomorrow am when they remove my drain....
I can't wait! Went and bought all of the necessary items items that I will be able to eat -cottage cheese, ricotta, sf yoghurt, baby veggies, tuna salad stuff (will attempt to eat pureed meat!)....cream soups, skim milk etc...
The thought of pureed meat creeps me out so I plan to get by with dairy and PRAY I am not lactose intolerant after all of this!
Other than sore/pain in the abdomen/incision areas I feel great! No nausea at all. Lost about 14 lbs since the day before surgery so far according to my home scale-- can't wait to see what the Surgeon's office reads!
I had laparoscopic RNY on 12/30/03 and feel great also. I was on a clear liquid diet one week prior to surgery as well as one week post-op. 2nd week full liquids. On 01/12/04 Dr. said to start attempting pureed foods from the list he provided prior to surgery. That list includes skim milk, SF yogurt, nonfat cottage cheese, SF instand breakfast w/ 1 cup skim milk. Strained cream soups w. skim milk, egg substitute and creamy peanut butter as well as stage 1 babyfood. Cannot forget the protein drinks. Pureed will go on for one month. Remember adding powdered milk to yout skim milk will increase the protein content and makes the skim milk taste better I found. So happy to hear that others are at the same stage I am. It helps me to feel that i am not on this journey alone. One week post-op I was down 15 1/2 lbs based on Dr's. scale. No diabetes and blood pressure meds needed as both are within normal range already.
OH HAPPY DAYS !!!!!!
