I am one week post-op with RNY Lap surgery. To date, I have been doing great, Thank God. I have not had any episodes of vomiting or nausea. I have tolerated all of my liquids well and I am looking forward to my first post-op visit during the coming week. If any one has any suggestions of very good protien powders and protein meal shakes please let me know.

Hi, I had my lap surgery on 12/19 and I am drinking the Atkins shakes that are premixed, you can buy them in Walmart and Stop & Shop, they have 20 grams of protein in the 11 oz can and they have several flavors. I also drink Isopure fruit flavored drinks, they look like gatorade and I find them at the Vitamin Shoppe or in natural food stores, they have a variety of flavors and have 45 grams of protein per bottle. I havent tried the protein powders because this is just easier and it seems most people that use the powders dont like them. I also tried a protein drink called Nitro Tech which has 45 grams of protein also, I think it was tropical punch, I added some ice to water it down a little and it was pretty good. Good luck to you!! I had RNY lap surgery 12/5. When I was on liquids, I drank Ensure High protein and Boost high protein that I bought at Walgreens. I tolerated them well.

Hi, Jacquette. I had my lap RNY on 12/30, so I am 6 days post-op. I think I'm doing very well. I am tolerating clear liquids, jello, all my vitamins. I haven't had any nausea and the pain is much less than I expected it to be. I've noticed a marked improvement in the last couple of days in terms of my ability to get up and down. I'm walking 2-3 times a day; my goal is to get that up to 3-4 times before I go back to work on the 20th. As for protein drinks, I'm drinking Worldwide's Pure Protein from Trader Joe's: 35 grams of protein, 3 grams of carbs. They're OK. When I have some time, I'll experiment with others. All in all, this has been easier than I had anticipated.
