Topic: I am truly blessed....6 mos out and feeling terrific
I can't believe how fast the 6 mos has flown by. It will be 7 mos on July 11th and I'm down 86 lbs., 34 lbs. to go to reach goal. I am able to eat just about anything I want, still only small portions but I feel satisfied. I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of anything like I used to when dieting. If I want a cookie, I eat one cookie. You wouldn't dare eat a cookie on a fad diet plan. I'm having so much fun shopping for clothes. Building a brand new wardrope for a brand new me. YEAH ! I am going to the pool this summer and actually sitting in the sun.... in a bathing suit.... in public. Something I would never have done in years past. My family is very proud of my accomplishment and I'm proud of myself, too. Best of all, I feel healthy. I have lots of energy and enjoy exercising, walking, swimming and being around people. My self esteem has rose to ultimate levels. I do truly feel blessed to have met my doctors. They know their stuff when it comes to performing WLS and I'm thankful to them, my family, and to God for allowing me to become a vital part of society again.
Topic: Weight loss at six months
I've noticed almost everyone has lost over 100lbs, I have only lost 75 lbs, of course i was a light weight started out at 253 and i'm now down to 178 or so. But i was wondering how much other light weights lost in their first six months.
Topic: 6 months and still happy
I am 6 months out. Had surgery on New Years Eve!!! I am really sticking to the new years resolution this year...lol I am so happy I had this done and would do it again (hope I don't though). Every day is still a struggle with food. I still struggle to get in all my fluids and still sometimes make the wrong food choices but I am still learning and I know what to stay away from. I am down 80 lbs from 312. This is truly the best thing I could have done for myself. I have more confidence and more self-esteem. I care about what I look like now when I go out. The best part...I can play with my daughter!!!!!
Good luck to everyone out there!!!!!!
Topic: 6 Months post op / Eating
Hi WLS family,
I am 6 months post op as of June 16,2003. I started at 314 post op and am now 230!!!!!! I am 84 lbs down and am looking forward to the 100 mark. I havent seen the other side of 200 since 1992. But I just wanted to know what the rest of the 6 monthers were eating. Im supposed to be eating 75 grams of protein a day minimum. My blood work is excellent and so I hope to stay right on track. But any suggestions on increasing protein would be wonderful!!!!!

Topic: 6 months and I feel great!
I feel wonderful. I have lost 93 pouonds and I am able to tie my shoes. I can breathe. I can keep up with my husband when I walk. Every single one of those things weren't possible before surgery. I now use a balance ball and free weights to stay in shape. My surgery went remarkably well. I sailed through it and was back at work in a week. I have had people ask me (they had heard I had it done) and I tell them, if you are able to get this surgery, do it! In fact, a friend of mine is having his surgery tomorrow. I am so happy with my health problems going away--no more high blood pressure.
Topic: RE: Amazed As Each Day Goes By
Thanks for your extremely upbeat and positive message! I am at 3 months and hope I am as joyous as you at 6 months!
Topic: RE: Wow! six months flew by!
Ann, congratulations on your 6 months! I am at 3 months and think I can relate to the "emotional roller coaster" ride.
Topic: Wow! six months flew by!
I have lost 108 lbs and am still losing at a considerable rate. I think the most surprising thing about the surgery was the emotional roller coaster that it puts you on...not much said about that in the info pre-op. I am grateful to my husband, my friends and family and my employer and co-workers for their strong support! I have been amazed and surprised at the response to my situation. I recommend this to anyone.
Topic: Amazed As Each Day Goes By
I am totally and happily amazed each day that I am losing. I've lost 112 to date and without the help of my surgeon I could not have started on this journey. I just could not do it alone. But since the RNY surgery I have had more interest in life, I feel more alive, I feel better period. I walk, exercise, breathe easier, off meds, and like I first said I'm a happier person. FOr the first time in 15 years I can see myself beginning to get healthy again and will soon be back to my normal weight for my height, something I've not seen for 20 years. I just could not do this alone and I thank God for everyone on this site, my surgical team and my personal support team. But most important I thank God for giving me the support and courage to do something "for me"
I just simply can't stand it when I get on that scale and keep going down. I can't wait to see the New "old" me...Yes, I'm not getting older, I'm getting better each and every single day.
Topic: Happy to have had this surgery!!!!!!!!!!
As of this date June 24, 2003 I have lost 154 pounds and 150 inches. I am so very pleased and happier and healthier. I can do more things this year than I could do last year. I walk 3 miles a day. I mow the lawn with a push lawn mower even though my dh has a riding one I love to walk. I would do this surgery again in a heart beat. I love life I love being myself and I love the fact that I am still the same person as I was when I was heavier.
