Topic: What a Wonderful life it is to be on the thin side
My life has changed so much I go dancing and I clean and run and do things all the time I never take a moment. Now I have to take time for me once in awhile just to catch up. If you are thinking about it make sure you do it for you and if you are approved get ready for a life change. It is a fun ride.

Hi, Karen! My name is Betsey and I live in Sherman, Tx. I am interested in having wls, but I have not had a consultation yet. I have heard good things about the Bariatric Treatment Center in Wylie. Where did you have your procedure? Are you still happy with your results? I am 48 yrs old and 294 lbs. I have tried everything to lose, but always gain after a while. I would really like to hear from someone who has already made the journey. Regards, Betsey

Hi everybody, I had my surgery on 12/16/02 by U.S. Bariatrics in Ft. Lauderdale, and I have lost 112 lbs so far. I went from 290 to 178 lbs, a size 26 to a size 14/16. I feel so much better, it's unbelievable! Congrats to everyone and their weight loss as well! Melanie

Topic: I feel good
Hi everyone Its been a little over seven months since I had my surgery, and I'm feeling good. I have went from 267pounds down to 151pounds,and also went from size 26 down to a size 10, and that feels wonderful. I thought that I would never see that small size on me in my lifetime, who knows by my anniversary date I could be down to a size 8, if not smaller. I have around 12-13 pounds more to go for my ideal weight which is suppose to be between 136-139 pounds. But something tells me I will go beyond that. I do exercise, and on my new job, I do practially 7 hours of walking everyday. And I watch what I eat also. And I do go to support groups every month. And I fine that you can learn alot of things with people and what their going thru. And would I ever think about doing this again, yes in a heartbeat. This surgery does work. As long as you follow and pay close attention to things that you are suppose to do and so forth.

Topic: RE: Hair Loss
Hi Everyone, Post-op 7 mo, -#100. Yes I had hair loss. Around 4 months out I began lossing hair by the handfuls. I was eating protein, drinking water, taking my vitamins and still it was falling out. Someone mentioned pre-natal chewable vitamins (Rx) and I borrowed some from my sister, in 2 weeks time my hair loss slowed down, and now has stopped, and my stylist said she can see new hair growth! Not to mention my blood work was "perfect." The prenatal chews are available from your Dr by script only, however make sure you tell the pharmacy you want chewables!! They are tasty and no side effects! I also stopped shampooing daily and never used a brush, just a wide tooth comb- Good luck to everyone, it (hair) will return! Margaret

Topic: RE: It's been 7 months - I need advice!
Hi, Jayne! I am a post-op patient (December 10, 2002 - down 84 lbs) and have been "stuck" a few times since surgery. DEFINITELY increase your exercise! My program requires patients to commit to 45 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. When I was stuck I'd do more to get over the hump. One big thing that helped that was suggested by one of my Docs --- Walk 3 miles every day for 5 days, going faster each day. After I did that I was down 4 lbs in a week!! I also try to get at least 100g of protein a day. I couldn't do it without my protein shakes! The Herbalife powder mixed with skim milk is my favorite! I mix 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 chocolate-- YUM!!! Look for a Herbalife distributor in your area and try it, you'll like it! Also , the Nectar proteins available from WLSsuccess.com are yummy! The protein bars I like best are called Zone Perfect - they have a few more carbs than the others, but they are worth it! Don't give up!! You're not done yet! Keep losing! Sherri
