Dania,
Your not alone. I had my surgery 12/31/02. To date I have lost 102lbs. I keep gaining and losing the same 3-4lbs it seems. The scale seemed to have come to a complete stop around the 9month mark. The only thing keeping me from going insane is my measurements. I take them monthly. I only lost 2lbs last month but in inches I lost 10 1/2. I believe that my exercising routine is to blame.....gaining muscle weight now. Keep up the good work and I hope we all break these nasty platues that seem to plague us.
Take care!

Hi Desiree, I know exactly what you are saying, I had a plateau althrough my wl journey, but I remember one that stayed so long I felt my losing weight was finally over. It had stayed 42 days. grrrrrrr LOL and then out of the blue my losing started again. I just continued to focus and not give up.I had open rny 12/6/02 and my start wt was 400 lbs I have loss 154 lbs so far, putting me at 246 lbs. I'm not worried about not losing anymore. I have enough positive thinking to know I will do this.
Topic: RE: Plateaued Out at 7 Months
I have plateaued out several times, give it a chance I didnt move for several months then all of a sudden I lost another 10 pounds. I would say after the 1st 60 pds or so I really struggled buts its gone now. It will be 1 year in December and I have went from 286 to 167.
Keep up the good work and dont give up yet.
Topic: RE: I have lost 112 ponds in 6 months!!!!
Congratulations, well you have me beat by a long shot. Everyones body is different, those who are more over wt tend to lose the first 100 or so a lot faster. Keep up the good work
Topic: RE: Bad Plateaus
Hey Des, glad Im not the only one going through this. My 1 year mark will be December 30th I have gone from 286 to 167. I have lost between 115-120 pds (the scale had not moved in over 3 mths)!! I feel great, I look Great, but I still get discouraged! In due time it will still come off. I have spoke to people that are 2 years out and are still gradually losing wt.
Stand up tall and be proud of your accomplishments you have made so far!

Marie,
I don't know much what to say, except I know what you mean. I'm eleven months out and down 116. I haven't exercised at all. I could have done so much better. Many lost one hundred plus at SIX months. I try not to compare. I have no real excuse on why I didn't "exercise" this summer. I was much more "naturally" active - but I'm down from 351 to 235. I still have one hundred MORE pounds I'd like to lose... but
You're right, you down 95 pounds going into this next surgery. You have a whole nother year where the surgery does extra work for us. Keep your head up and work with what you got!
Good luck and write me personally if you'd like to talk more!

Desiree Ann,
It sure does slow down, huh. It's hard. You know you ARE greatful and should be for ONE HUNDRED or so pounds. I started at 351 on December 13, 2002 and am down to 235 - that's 116. Some patients lighter than me lost that in the first six months. So, it's hard not to compare and want more faster. I diet as good post-judgment as I did before surgery. The surgery has been a great tool to keep my portion and my sugars down... but I still want to eat too much for my new little tummy, I want to eat the wrong things and I find myself battling GRAZING.
A plateau is normal as the body adjusts. It's a good thing in some ways... but to keep losing weight, it comes down to the same diet techniques. Increasing or even "starting" exercise. And looking at calorie intake and quality intake. Protein in a first and a must. Fish and lighter meats are best. Veggies and fruit for their quality. Minimum carbohyrdates of any kind.
I don't know if you already knew this and just wanted support... so write me if you'd like to talk more. GOOD LUCK!

HI everyone. I am about 10 1/2 months out. I am down 106 lbs. Went from 312 to 206. I know that is good and I know I could not have done that with out surgery. My problem is that I will loose a few puonds then nothing for 2 months. My personal goal is to be between 130 and 140. It seems so far away and it seems like it isnt going to happen. Is anyone else going thru this also and how can I stop these plateaus?!? Thanks
