I can't believe how time flies! I had my open gastric bypass Dec. 4th 2002 and I have lost 188 pounds. Day of surgery I weighed 368 pounds, now I am at 180 pounds. I am only 20 pounds away from my goal of weighing 160. I feel great! I have so much energy. I hope everyone is having the same success I am. This is the best thing I ever did! I had my surgery at Alexian Bros. Medical Center in Elk Grove, Il. My surgeon was Dr. Peter Rantis Jr., he is the best. I am so grateful to him for giving me a better life. He is my hero.

Anne Good luck to you. I have not started looking into plastic surgery but I too need the same thing done. Did your insurance pay for any of it, or will they? Who are you usign for the surgery? Please let me know how you do and I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm so excited for you. I can't wait to tighten up my boobs! I've never been so flat in my life and I too would love to lose 10 pounds of stomach fat! Good luck, Jeannie

Well, its been 14 months since surgery and I'm down over 160 pounds and still going. Moving very slowly right now. I'm still eating correctly and I'm still working out. Infact I've just added 3 aerobics classes to my normal routine to pick up the pace on the weight loss. I feel good, look great. Have done a makeover with myself, hair etc and have lots of fun with people not recognizing me. Its a fun thing it is! I have a bleeding ulcer that we are tending to otherwise I am doing wonderfully. I do not regret doing this at all. Yes, I still want to eat and I do try things. I've tried almost everything I've ever eaten in my life. I know what I can and cannot eat and then what I should and should not. If I want to try it, I try it... this keeps me safe and not wanting it. I love the new me and I haven't loved me in a long time. I take no medications except my vitamins, B12, Calcium and prevacid. I'm off all other medications and I was on 8 before. Jeannie

Just an update on my progress. I have now had my breast reduction surgery on 1/26/04 as well as my gallbladder out on 2/5/04. I would have to say the worst thing about the breast reduction surgery is seeing yourself for the first time. It was shocking but as each day goes by and the swelling subsides, it looks better. I actually have more pain from my gallbladder surgery than the breast reduction. I was very scared before surgery, but I know the outcome will be worth all the worry and pain. My abdominoplasty is scheduled for 3/1/04 and frankly I will be glad when it is over.

Well here I am at 215lbs for a total loss of 185lbs!!! My blood pressure is great, my sugar levels are great ,my apnea has vastly improved, and I am getting compliments every where that I go!!! I have never posted anything here before but I thought that I would inquire of others out there concerning the one and only side affect that I am experiencing - to much acid in my stomach! NO I am not having heartburn nor am I experiencing acid reflux but I am in regular pain and nausea if I do not take a certain pill on a daily basis called a PROTON PUMP INHIBATOR! Basically it shuts off the acid producing pumps in my stomach! My family doctor put me on it after trying an acid reducer, which only worked for short periods of time. The pain is similar to that of a severe hunger pain or an ulcer perhaps but my family docter cannot figure it out and I now have an appointment with my surgeon on feb 12th! When I stop taking the medication the pain returns two days after stopping and is usually accompanied by daily vomiting for no apparent reason and with no warning save about 1 minute and 30 seconds before I let loose!! I have had this pain ever since the surgery but I chalked it up to the healing process, and I was able to control it to some degree with an over the counter acid reducer but it has seemed to worsen in the last few months and it now requires the PPH that Im on! Anybody else having any trouble???

I just wanted to post a quick message to everyone to keep me in your prayers as I endure 3 surgeries in the next 5 weeks. On Monday January 26, I will have a breast reduction done. Flopsy and Mopsy will now become Nip and Tuck. I also found out two days ago, that my gallbladder does have to come out, so that will now be phase ll. March 1, I will go under the knife once again for my abdominoplasty. I am very nervous about all this surgery, but excited to see what the changes will bring. I had my surgery 12/12/02 and have lost almost 95# and 79 3/4 ". The goal is to lose about 11 more pounds of skin. I will update soon on my progress. Anne
