Hi there,

I am out here since 12/02/02.  This is the best thing I have ever done for myself.  I don't frequent this site much any more, but if I can be of assistance, please don't hesitate.  I didn't even know there were e-mails out here.

Hope you are doing well and still on the slim path.

Hi, yes I'm back here looking for support and answers. My surgery was in Dec. 2002 and I lost 160 pounds but did not reach my goal to get down under 200 pounds.  Since that time there has been a lot of things happen....Hurricane Katrina, my husbands cancer, move to another State, etc.  I guess I have learned to eat sweets in small quantities and have eaten the "slider" type foods (pasta) that have put back on 50 pounds.  I'm concerned about this weight.  My appetite is small and I still eat small amounts of food, but the weight is returning.
Last week, I had an endoscopy to see if there were any problems with my pouch but the doctor said all looked fine.  However, since then, I have had problems holding down solids of any kind and I keep burping and having to throw up.  I don't know what is wrong.  Perhaps, someone else has experiences this?

Hi Jeri I had my surgery December 6th 2002 at Westchester Medical Center in NY. I initially lost around 150 pounds but in the last 3 years it has been coming back on, totally because of my grazing, late at night eating and not exercising consistently. Never dreamed I would be up 35 pounds when I never even got near my goal (wanted to lose 250). I have stopped the gain in the last 2 years, but no matter how many diets or programs or "back to basics" attempts I make, I am still struggling... even have been in therapy for several issues besides the food.  This is definitely not the long term post op life I thought I would be living!  Kathy

I hope someone out there can help. I had surgery in December 2002 and have done very well. I lost from 270 to 137 and looked and felt great by watching my food (modified low carb--a healthier version) and Jazzercising. This last year I experienced several stressful events and began putting back on weight. At 155 I started the CEA-HOW program. Suddenly, it seems, I weighed 118 in August. I kept having boughts of feeling bad, like a one day flu, and just ended up in the hosptial for two weeks in the both in the small town where I live and at Baylor in Dallas with a Bariatric Specialist. My blood pressure was 70 over 50 and blood sugar got as low at 40. Constant low grade fever. They did many tests and kept saying something just wasn't right but I still have no definitive answers. I think the diet and the stress just caused my system to tank but none of the doctors have agreed. Now I'm home and still not feeling well. Has anyone had anything similar to this? I've had a colonoscopy, blood work, CT scans--the works. Thanks Marty in Texas

I have not been on this web sight in a couple years. I suppose since I lost all my weight I finally have a 'life' now. My beginning weight was 428lbs. I am 5'10" and am wearing a size 12. I weigh 165 now. Working on skin removal, but I got breast cancer and had to have a masectomy and some strong chemotheraphy. But, I am alive and a surivor. In more ways than one. Please dont be afraid, this is the beginning of the rest of your life and believe me, you do start living. God Bless ya all and send me an email if I can help in any way '[email protected]

I had my surgery 7months ago. Could you tell me what you had to do to have your insurance cover it. Was there a time limit for how long after bypass you would have to wait before the surgery? Did you have to be at a maintain weight? Any info would be helpful. I had a lot of excess skin to begin with now It's just longer. Tammy Lowery

I love this surgery. Dr. Murr is a gifted surgeon. He really knows his stuff. I always recommend him to everyone. He has genuine training and experience in the operation itself. He's awesome.
